Given the ugliness and severity of his neck inury, combined with his age, I am completely fine with this

Can you blame the guy suffering such a bad injury at his age?

This was pretty much a formality. He was done as soon as he took that Turnbuckle Powerbomb.

The fact that this WWE run of his has been terrible makes this even more sad.

So freakin annoying because he didn't even NEED to have that match with Rollins
This whole Authority-Taker stuff should be happening with Sting

That's truly a shame. As I was born in the late 80's and mainly watched WWF during the Wars, I never really got to appreciate a majority of his career until later. It's a shame his in ring work is done as he seemed to still pretty well have it at WM. Good on him for taking care of his health first though. Long live the Stinger!

How will people turn on Sting now that he's retired?!? His local welfare office stops all his social security payments?

How will people turn on Sting now that he's retired?!? The mail man will draw on his magazines, the stock boys at the local Kroger will throw grapes at him, the person who mows his lawn will only mow his neighbors lawn, and at the cinema they'll give him empty boxes of candy.

It's a good job HHH beat him or he might have retired with everyone thinking that WCW was the best thing ever! Phew. What a relief.

If anything, this gets me a bit frustrated that Sting spent so long in TNA. If he'd just jumped ship a year or two earlier, we probably would have gotten that Undertaker match (while both men were slightly younger and The Streak was still active, to boot) and maybe another dream match or two with some other talents. Instead we're left with one decent showing in an overbooked loss to Triple H, one great showing (but another loss) against Rollins, and a bog-standard RAW main event tag win (set up by a preceding DQ win) as the sum total of his WWE career, all because his neck gave out on him taking a bump he'd probably taken thousands of times before on the turnbuckle.

And if Vince hadn't been an absolute tool, we could've gotten that dream match at WM last year.

If this is the end.......well It could be alot worse. The Stinger was one of the guys who go me into wrestling. When I first saw him on the SuperStation, I was like "who is this guy with the funky paint bouncing all over?". And man his energy had me hooked. Sting was damn specimen, strong as all hell, can fly like a Jr. Heavyweight get technical when needed and brawl with the best of them.
And his overness can't be overstated, you wanted him to kick ass, you felt bad when somebody betrayed him he drew you in with his infectious energy, ya wanted to wear paint and get weird!(his words). This hits a little harder than Bryan due to how long I watched Sting from the Muthersheep to TNA and now the WWE. Man, now Liger ia left on guys who got me into wrestling.

I think that's for the best at this point. Even if he didn't have the injury, he's turning 57 on Sunday.
I wish he could've come in sooner, but they had a year to use him and they booked him like it was a rib WCW.
I just hope the multiverse exists and somewhere in the cosmos, old washed up Triple H has been brought in by WCW for his first major match in 15 years for a big Starrcade match with Sting, only to lose after a failed assist by the Nation of Domination.

Surprised he didn't wait until his Hall of Fame speech to confirm it. Would have made it more emotional.
