. Regardless, it's wound up exposing some very ugly and unsettling sentiments people hold. That still doesn't make the claim that anyone who criticizes it is sexist true and frankly, that claim is highly insulting to everyone involved. People really need to stop with these knee-jerk "the ONLY possible explanation why anyone would dislike it is because they're bigoted!" reactions. When you have a director actually claim that all criticism of his work is fuelled solely by sexism, there's something wrong and it reeks of insecurity. And frankly, if you needed this to learn that there do indeed exist misogynistic people, I think it says more about you than about the people who dislike this trailer. Even if that is how Sony wants to market it, there are too many people denying that said assholes actually exist. It's sleazy to be sure, but you do see them all crawling from under the rock that's been turned over, right? No-one is denying that they exist, as evidenced by the posts in this thread, people are denying that EVERYONE who dislikes it is like that. And yeah, when you make blanket statements calling anyone who disagrees with you or doesn't blindly love something a bigot, they tend to take it poorly. I don't think it's a huge shock. Mm. And it's a self fulfilling prophecy too in a sense, as a lot of the backlash against this film is people being put off by what we're discussing in this thread. No discussion about the movie can avoid this because of what they're attempting to make this movie's aura into.

There's no way a majority of the hate is just from sexist men. It's a remake/reboot of a very beloved movie, it was gonna get shit on no matter what. And it just doesn't look that good. If it was starring the Adam Sandler crew it'd probably be even more hated.

Now wants to know what the other most hated movie trailers were.
(Now also respects the editors of the Bayformers series' trailers more...they tricked us into thinking the movies would be great!)

f*** it, I hope this movie becomes the most profitable comedy of all time. I hope it gets a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score and makes like $200 million its first week, and holds onto the top spot for five straight weeks.
I'm not even that interested in seeing it, but it'd be really funny if somehow this movie that's had so much attention and venom thrown its way somehow winds up being good in the end. I don't personally think it will, but it'd be awesome.

If you thought this movie was getting shit on, just imagine Adam Sandler and Friends in the roles instead. There be riot on the streets

Trailer looks like an unentertaining film. If Seth Rogen and his boys were the leads instead, it would still look unentertaining.

All I know is that this forum is not really good when it comes to talking about Women things. Always gets angry. And shouldn't the thread title be changed since it is misleading?

All I'm saying is there's a chunk of guys out there who don't like strong women, and thus they were never gonna enjoy the movie to begin with, and that's a little sad. It's far from the only reason why people are down on it, but it's there.

I wanted to like this movie, but that trailer is pretty horrible. And if the best jokes are included in the trailer, going to be a long 90 minutes.
I do hate the slant that you can't dislike the trailer without also disliking women... Such a fallacy of an argument.

Honestly, the trailer just made the movie looking really generic. Nothing I'm really ever going to pay money and see, or even watch on TV. I just want this movie in theaters and gone already, for two reasons.
1. I get this trailer in front of nearly every movie I've seen over the past month. Batman v. Superman? It's there. Zootopia? It's there. The re-release of Purple Rain? It's f***ing there.
2. Every single f***ing time this movie is brought up, it inevitably comes down to the sexism argument, and I'm just sick of hearing about that in general.

This anger wouldn't be happening if we had gone with the all hamster cast.

I hope it does turn out to be surprisingly good, but every trailer I've seen makes it look like a mess. Which is a shame because there will be tons of sexism arguments that ignore the quality of the movie itself. Lots of people want more diversity in movies, so it's a shame that the first major attempt be wasted on...this.

The film may be good, but the trailer shows none of it. That's pretty much the beginning and end of the discussion.

I look at it like something like the Total Recall remake; just patently uninteresting, especially in comparison to an entertaining original. As such, I'm apathetic toward it. A soul-less remake trading on a popular name doesn't really NEED an agenda of angry men to dislike it. I'd say the 'backlash' is overblown and honestly AS annoying to be frank.

I've always been a Ghostbusters fan. I love both the original movies and watched them numerous times when they reran on Comedy Central, and I still love both The Real Ghostbusters and Extreme Ghostbusters.
If the movie is good, and despite the trailer there's a good chance it could be because The Heat was frickin' hilarious, then I hope it does extremely well. But if it does ending up being as bad as the trailer made it look it deserves to fail. Either way, a faithful adaption of Extreme Ghostbusters is what they should have gone with. It covers all ground with diversity, providing them with an easy out for not having Ramis or Murray too.

A terrible looking movie is a terrible looking movie....
And these extra calls that are trying to pinpoint sexism as an excuse is f***ing ridiculous...
The people who look for a new thing to get riled up over are lame as f*** and need some real hobbies that don't involve an electronic screen....

I think the more aggravating thing with regards to this movie is that it's yet another example of Hollywood being completely devoid of fresh, new ideas and doing reboots/remakes/re-imaginings of things no one asked for, for no reason other than they're completely devoid of fresh, new ideas.
