Finally catching last week's show. Glad we got one more Dijak-Moose match before Moose departed. These two were made to wrestle each other, and their match earlier this year is the best I'd seen either have by that point. In a year where they've both improved tremendously, it was just a great, smart match.
Given Delirious' penchant for longterm booking and the seeds for Lethal-Moose planted in 2015, I really think the eventual plan was for Moose to beat Lethal for the belt in 2017, and the inevitable feud with Moose that would have followed would have been incredible.
Anyway, back on the match, Kevin Kelly really did a great job this week. He knows how to crescendo big moments without his emotional pull being forced, and the way he called Dijak attacking Hathaway was perfect.

Also, Caprice Coleman was great in that The Cabinet promo. Glad they're finally letting him cut loose. One of the company's most underrated promos for a while now.

Just thought I'd mention, having just watched the latest episode, that despite the fact ROH is far from its best self right now the stuff with Lethal/O'Reilly/Bullet Club was absolutely awesome. The storytelling was absolutely perfect. It's rare I see something and think "I wouldn't change a single thing about that" but that was my exact thoughts about the opening, backstage stuff with Kyle & Bobby, main event and closing attack. It was absolutely brilliant. More of this please. If I had one criticism about it, it's just that they had Bullet Club raise the stakes too high prior to this that they look kind of foolish for not having better plan Bs as far as Bullet Club shenanigans are concerned. I agree though that the Kyle O'Reilly stuff was amazing, great selling of the arm. I loved in the Lethal/O'Reilly match when Lethal hit a suicide dive and the fans chanted "one more time" and Lethal questioned "really?" They're that callous about O'Reilly's situation that they'd rather just see a pretty move? But when it ocmes down to the Bullet Club beating people up, I just think they've set themselves a precedent by this point that the moment it seems like they're gonna do something over the top, Nigel should have an anti-Bullet Club squad at the ready at all times, instead of the bumbling security who can't seem to keep them out of the building and the best they can do is ask them to stop from a distance. Even Bobby Fish showing up late during the second time BC beat up O'Reilly was a little dubious. In a bubble this story was really great but on the whole ROH still looks kind of ineffective for how easily the Club runs rampant on these shows. Also, Caprice Coleman was great in that The Cabinet promo. Glad they're finally letting him cut loose. One of the company's most underrated promos for a while now. I've been dying for Caprice Coleman to catch on and be somebody in ROH and I'm glad he's the mouthpiece for this act, but the Cabinet concept is kind of cringe inducing for me. I wish they were still just the All Night Express featuring Caprice Coleman, this whole Commissioner of Championships, Secretary of Shoulders, "Make Wrestling Great Again" stuff is pretty terrible.

Finally caught up on the last to weeks of tv. The post 6-man angle wasn't as strong as I thought it would be but I loved Lethal's promo to start the night. Caprice was on fire in that promo and I loved the Moose/Dijak stuff.
The Chicken Shack was great. Amazing stuff from both. Lethal/Colt was great as well.
ROH got new belts as well. Lethal's looks amazing.

Shows have been pretty well back on track lately. Jay Lethal is definitely one of the best guys in wrestling right now, and Adam Cole has his old edge back.

Lineup for Episode #256 (Airing 8/13 and later):
Donovan Dijak (/w Prince Nana) vs. Lio Rush Number One Contenders Match* for the ROH Tag Team Titles: The Young Bucks (Nick and Matt Jackson) vs. Roppongi Vice (Rocky Romero and Trent)
* The winning team gets their title shot "in two weeks."
We're one week away from the Death Before Dishonor pay-per-view, and ROH is in full-on hype mode. It's the standard fare: recaps, last-minute story additions designed to keep the TV show afloat for two weeks and a contract signing were everyone behaves themselves and nothing even remotely "controversial" happens.

Dadgum that Rush/Dijak match was awesome! Maybe the best match Lio has had in ROH. Wasn't feeling White's save as it just seemed tacked on to get the 4 Way competitors on the episode.
Page's promo was okay, seems weird to have him breakaway from BJ to be his own man and then fall in as a faceless soldier doing what BC asks of him. Still, he and Briscoe should be an amazing brawl.
WarMachine/Taylor and Lee is whatever. Same for Dalton and the Cabinet. I guess the Cabinet gets involved at the PPV and we get them vs. Dalton and Okada on TV.
Didn't care about the tag match. Seemed solid but the division is weak, IMO.
Contract signing was great. Loved Lethal getting more and more ready for battle as Cole talked. Dropping the sissors was a great visual to start the brawl on. I wish the PPV wasn't a normal match because I fear something like Lethal getting DQ'd or costing himself the title like that. It'd be decent storytelling sure but just sounds lame in my head.

Lineup for Episode #257 (Airing 8/20 and later):
Jonathan Gresham vs. Adam Page Stuka Jr. vs. Kamaitachi (w/ Christopher Daniels) Jay Briscoe vs. Jay White
Hot off the heels of a surprisingly great Death Before Dishonor, ROH proudly presents... an almost unrelated show. (That's pre-taping for you.) Instead of immediate follow-up, we get the highly anticipated television debut of CMLL's Stuka Jr. ROH isn't exactly known for its luchadores, so his arrival is indeed something special.

Lineup for Episode #258 (Airing 8/27 and later):
Shane Taylor and Keith Lee vs. War Machine (Hanson and Rowe) Four corner survival: Tim Hughes (w/ Brutal Bob Evans) vs. Joey Daggiego vs. David Starr vs. Cheeseburger Six-man tag: Dalton Castle and The Boys vs. The Cabinet (Rhett Titus, Kenny King and Caprice Coleman) ROH Tag Team Title Match: The Young Bucks (Nick and Matt Jackson) vs. The Addiction (Christopher Daniels and Kazarian)
It's unofficial guest commentary week! Matt Taven is filling in for Nigel, so set your plans (and for some of you, your mute buttons) accordingly. BJ Whitmer also stops by the booth, confounding Taven with his Kevin Sullivan inspired, sub-Wyatt cryptic ramblings. Veda Scott joins the team for the main event, talking Bullet Club, the current state of the tag division and her post-Cedric Alexander plans.

I am happy to see Martinez back after that wonderful go-round with Lio Rush, but for goodness sake GET HIM AWAY FROM WHITMER. Miring him in that crap isn't going to help anyone.
I love the Cabinet as a team, but hate their gimmick. I'd like for them to be made the foundation of a new Kingdom, if possible.
Ugh to Bullet Club, as usual.
Actually enjoyed Taven on commentary this week. He snarked all over the place and it was hilarious.

Finally watching the Aug. 27 show. WarMachine/Keith Lee was awesome. Too bad that Shane Taylor was there. Ugh. Thought WarMachine's Dead lift German Suplex/Springboard Clothesline combo was awesome.
Did not care about the 4 way and I just cannot take BJ serious. I like the idea but it just ain't clicking with BJ. While he would not fit in that spot, I am kinda sad Punisher Martinez got a regular role over Jason Kincaid.
Cabinet's entrance with the baby dolls was cool. Like The Boys' peacock themed gear. That finish sucked.
I may be jinxing it since I have the main event to go but Matt Taven has been good on commentary.

It kind of worked out, because this week on TV it was announced that Jay White & Lio Rush {Spoiler}are teaming with ACH in the 6 man tag title tournament at ASE.

Lineup for Episode #259 (Airing 9/3 and later):
Caprice Coleman (w/ Kenny King, Rhett Titus and various "supporters") vs. Dalton Castle (w/ The Boys) Donovan Dijak (w/ Prince Nana) vs. Manny Lemons The Briscoes (Jay and Mark) vs. Jay White and Lio Rush
After two long weeks of weeks of waiting, we finally get to see the fallout from Death Before Dishonor. Thanks to Adam Cole's shock title win, the Bullet Club is ruining running the show. Who will be the first to stand up to them? On the other end of the spectrum, we have former champion Jay Lethal. This is the first time in almost two and a half years (April 4th, 2014) that Lethal hasn't held an ROH title. What is his next move? Elsewhere - adjacent to The Dungeon of Doom, no doubt - BJ Whitmer and Kevin Sullivan talk up the newest face of evil, Punishment (not a typo) Martinez. Plus appearances by The Addiction (Christopher Daniels, Frankie Kazarian and their most favorite ladder), Bobby Fish and more.

Lineup for Episode #260 (Airing 9/10 and later):
The Bullet Club (Adam Cole, Hangman Page and Yujiro Takahashi) vs. Jay Lethal and Los Ingobernables de Japon (Tetsuya Naito and EVIL) ROH TV title Match: Bobby Fish (c) vs. Katsuyori Shibata
The New Japan/ROH partnership is on full display this week as Jay Lethal and Los Ingobernables look for some measure of revenge against Adam Cole's Bullet Club. But things, as they tend to be in the world of pro wrestling, isn't as simple as they appear.
In the main event, Katsuyori Shibata challenges Bobby Fish for the ROH TV title. Shibata's last ROH opponent, Silas Young, proved to be a bit more of threat than he initially expected. Bobby Fish, meanwhile, has proven that he is not to be taken lightly. Is the current reigning NEVER Openweight champion up to the task?

Watching this week's episode and the recap of last week's episode reminded of two things I wanted to comment on.
1. I love when Jay Lethal confronted Adam Cole, Cole did the "lame white guy" voice that black comedians do.
2. Nice touch that Lethal brought members of the New Japan contingent of Los Ingobernables to team with him against Bullet Club. When House of Truth and Los Ingobernables joined forces on an episode from the winter tour of New Japan that it was just a one night thing (like something akin to what you would see at a house show). I remember Truth Martini gifted Los Ingobernables the book of truth. But what they give him?

I don't think we got the Sept. 4 episode for some reason.
Anyway, watch the Sept. 11 episode. The opening was interesting. I liked LIdJ walking out. Makes sense and gives Lethal something else to do. I liked Nigel being there and allowing the changes.
Expecting a lot of this main but am prepared for let down.
Fish and Kyle need separate singles themes.
Yeah that wasn't good. Nice double submission spot but completely meh. This tv title tun has destroyed Fish for me.
WOOHOO! NO MORE NIGEL ON COMMENTARY! NO MORE MELVIN! CORINO IS BACK! For now anyway.

Lineup for Episode #261 (Airing 9/17 and later):Unofficial Tag Team Week! The All Night Express (Rhett Titus and Kenny King; w/ Caprice Cole and various "supporters") vs. The Guerillas of Destiny (Tama Tonga and Tanga Roa) Shane Taylor and Keith Lee vs. Ricardo Rojas and Ken Phoenix* The Addiction (Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian) and Kamaitachi vs. Chaos (Rocky Romero, Trent Baretta and Kazuchika Okada) * - {Spoiler}...Which eventually morphs into Taylor and Lee vs. War Machine (Hanson and Rowe) And in non-tag news, Steve Corino is back on commentary after serving the world's most lax one-year suspension. The long, promotion-wide nightmares there were Nigel and Matt Taven are finally behind us all. (Well... Until Steve is forcibly taken out by BJ Whitmer, Kevin Sullivan and/or Punishment Martinez, or when Taven decides to stop by anyway, but we'll cross those bridges when we come to it.)

Lineup for Episode #262 (Airing 9/25 and later):
Silas Young vs. Toru Yano Cheeseburger vs. "Punishment" Damien Martinez (/w BJ Whitmer and Kevin Sullivan) The Bullet Club (Adam Cole and Hangman Page) vs. Michael Elgin and Hiroshi Tanahashi
We are one week away from All Star Extravaganza, featuring Ladder War 6. Will it live up to the legacy set by the other five? Christopher Daniels sure as hell thinks so. And because we can't go one week without guest commentary, both Kevin Sullivan and Kyle O'Reilly drop by the booth. The former expounds on a variety of topics, from Punishment Martinez to the dark side of Hulkamania monsters emanating from the sea and every weird topic in between. O'Reilly, on the other hand, is focused on one thing and one thing only: Adam Cole. Will he factor into Cole's title match with Michael ELgin this Friday?
