She's by no means anything close to great, but I think she's a bit underrated.
Semi-related: Some of the venom towards her over the course of her career is a bit troubling

I remember nothing about her title reign, I never had interest in it. She was passable. She certainly ly benefitted from who she was dating, since that's usually much more of a benefit than detriment.
I had a tough time continuing any interest after the music cued up and they did that little dance number atop the ramp, I usually checked out after that.

While she did get a lot better than anybody (likely including her) expected her to get, she didn't reach Trish levels of improvement. She's good. Probably better than she regularly gets credit for. But, much like HHH, any of her actual in-ring achievements are overshadowed by who she became involved with. I don't like these comments because I feel it degrades her hard work of improving and I believe she did reach Trish level of improvement.

You know, the mid-card level NXT divas like Alexa Bliss and Carmella have gotten just as good, if not better than Nikki Bella is in every way and it took them less than three years of work to get to that level and they're only getting better as they go. Hell, say what you will about Sasha Banks, but she's been an actual wrestler less than the Bella Twins have been active in WWE. Do they deserve respect for how fast they've learned? Nikki only started to learn to be...not god awful about six years into her run and yet still had no semblance of a coherent character or mic skills because she has the Stephanie McMahon problem of she's a heel but wants to believe she's a role model too so she'd act out of character when nothing about her screams role model. So no, she doesn't deserve respect for throwing a decent looking elbow and creating a stupid lionness meme. She's not a cancer, and I won't claim she got pushed because of Cena, but let's not act like she was some kind of underrated legend. She's still improved and deserves respect for that.

She deserves respect for improving from an abysmal all-round performer to a mediocre one. That's about all I can think of. Has she ever done anything in wrestling that was truly memorable? X2 She moved from say 1 out of 10 to a 3 or a 4 out of ten, you would swear that she was the GOAT...sad to see anyone end their career via injury though . Also it felt like when she was feuding with Charolette, that Charolette had to slow down for her...

The amount of time it took to improve to passable doesn't show great effort.Alicia improved much more than Nikki.she was always the best of team bella

If someone has a job they are awful at, and put barely any effort ,just enough to pass by, I won't respect his work ethic. If a baker takes 6 years to learn how to bake a decent bread, I won't respect it. I will give that she took great care too keep a strong build, not just in shape or lean, but she had a muscular body by the end and that clearly takes work.

She was rubbish for what 6 years or something and then good for a year/18 months. Fair play to her but I wonder if a not so easy on the eye male wrestler who had the same rubbish/good time span would get these regular threads demanding we respect them more.

Rubbish for 19 years, legendary for 1. I'm all for Nikki Bella. There are people better than her, people worse than her, I think her Kardashian character has a use in the division and she was having good matches on her way out. The only con against her is that she exists in a perpetually poorly booked company but that's not something I can hold against her.

She has the respect she deserves, she's a mediocre at best wrestler in a company where Bayley, Sasha, Becky, Asuka, Paige and Natalya all deserve to be at the top of the mountain more than she did.
No, I'm not including Charlotte in there because she stopped giving a shit around the Paige feud.

She gave Charlotte one of the best matches of her main roster run so far. and I like how you can just assume Charlotte has stopped giving a shit.

She's not a cancer, and I won't claim she got pushed because of Cena, but let's not act like she was some kind of underrated legend. Alexa and Carmella are fortunate enough to come up in a time where women's matches get more time and thus they're able to get more seasoning in a shorter amount of time. The current generation as a whole is better than the previous generation, but the previous generation only had the bare minimum of care and effort given by the higher ups towards their development. Nikki mightve held the belt as long as she did, but during her entire reign, there was an undercurrent of the Bellas being thrown under the bus and blamed by the company for being products of a broken system. At the same time, what sucks about her character is that you can see her trying to overcompensate for all of that in her work. It's wasn't just against Team BAD either. Hell during her feud with Charlotte, she had a sit down interview where she was completely nice. Instead of just rolling with the real life heat and being a heel, she's some quasi face hero role model. When you spend your entire title reign being a complete dick, you can't just flip a switch and do the "my character and me are the same goody gum drops keeners" like Cena does. Do what wrestlers are supposed to do out there: play a character. Of course her or her Brie don't deserve to take the blame of the Divas division of yesteryear, but they shouldn't be insecure.about it.

No it is not sexist I'm not implying she is dating Cena to get ahead. I'm stating that the wrestling business is famous for cronyism, nepotism etc. There was a reason why Ed Leslie and the Nasty Boys always found employment when Hogan was in a company. There was a reason why WCW tried to make Erik Watts a thing. To think that having an ally who was that vital to the company didn't help her career is naive.

She put in the effort and got better, and is deserving of some respect for that. If she wasn't sidelined with an injury she'd probably benefit greatly from the influx of talented women coming in.

Stop it, people give Triple H crap because he's married to Stephanie.. I'm sure your not upset over that and it's certainly not sexist. It's a fact. In the wrestling industry people benefit GREATLY from their relationships.
