In terms of the WWF/WWE, I think there have been 4 megastars, with a couple more guys being almost there. Hogan, Austin, The Rock, and John Cena are the 4 (I can understand an argument to put Cena in the next tier). Guys like Savage, Warrior, and Taker are in the next tier and then guys that helped carry the company but weren't quite the megastars outside of the wrestling business like Orton, HBK, and Bret.
Aside from Cena, and possibly Brock due to his UFC fame, do you think there's a guy on this roster that has that Megastar capability? The guy your non-wrestling fan friends would know? The guy people would post clips of on Facebook because of how great/interesting/funny his promo was?
I think Rollins and Ambrose have an Orton/HBK/Bret type of ceiling. There is definitely nothing wrong with that, but I just don't think they have the potential to make wrestling as mainstream as it was with Hogan/Austin/Rock.
Reigns may have had it, but I can't see him ever recovering to that level after how he was shoved down everyone's throats.
KO/Balor can be main eventers, but I don't see either of them ever being at that level.
Thoughts?

If there is, it's going to be someone we don't expect. No one saw Austin and Rock happening until it just did. I think the same is true now. The only thing I can say with utter certainty is that it'll be someone with loads of effortless charisma.

Only Enzo. Big E and Owens have potential. Reigns IF he can come back from this.

It's honestly not too late. He really caught on to something with the douchey Hollywood gimmick. I used to be one of his biggest detractors, and now I'm wanting him back in the main event.

I feel like Rusev has it in him. Has a lot of charisma, has a character where I feel like he has potential to reach that sweet spot where he figures it out and can really come into his own and be a star.

Who needs a megastar when you have shining stars?

Seriously, it's her. Came here to post about Bayley. She's going to be as big as Cena if they handle her correctly. She's wrestling's next crossover star.

Seriously, it's her. I was all set to post 'no.' But who was the last woman was over enough to get a pop like the one at Battleground? Chyna?

They dropped the ball big time on Bryan & Punk. Easily could've fit as major wrestling stars today. As good as The Shield is, I don't think any of them could ever be megastars that are known beyond wrestling. Bayley is a very cool prospect and maybe possible.
I think the problem is wrestling isn't that majorly popular anymore, so unless the star does more than just wrestling, they would never be well-known (notice Cena has been the guy in WWE for a decade, but it took a massive meme and movie cameos to truly get famous).

I don't know and it's hard to say.
I don't think anybody knew what they had with Steve Austin and The Rock before they blew up.
There are guys who are certainly charismatic and might have crossover appeal (Enzo, Nakamura, Bayley and Owens come to mind), but I dunno.
