Are there examples of kayfabe injuries?

I am sure that a lot of wrestling fans have heard from the doubters about how some injuries are a work. Most injuries are legitimate, but I am certain that there have been some that were because someone needed time off or to help elevate the storyline. What are some examples?

First one that comes to mind is Austin getting hit by a car, followed shortly by Mark Henry's Hall of Pain gimmick.

Yep, I remember a story in The Rock's book about a match he had with Owen. He said he thought the injury was real and didn't want to hurt Owen's arm, so he worked the other arm the whole match. Owen had to show him that he was actually fine after the match.

Goldberg's "broken Ankle" from the HHH bounty to help get Batista at the end the more feared monster then just Evolution's muscle.

Here's two involving Taker that happened in the same time period 2002. Brock "breaking" Taker's hand to get push Brock as the next big thing and how fearless he is. Setting up there HIAC match. Next time Big Show makes his debut signing with Smackdown throwing Taker off the stage. Help gain everyone's attention that he was there for Brock's title. Taker needed elbow surgery so it was a right off for him but help set up Big Show.

Damien was Jakes Python not his cobra. Savage was "retired" after losing to the Warrior earlier in the year. The Angle was more the reverse in order to build the return to the ring of Savage.

Thousands upon thousands of examples. Injuries (as well as loser leave town matches) were often the route promotions took to explain wrestlers leaving when headed to a new territory.

Post-territories, variety of examples and reasons.

Hogan being "hospitalized" by Earthquake complete with Tugboat doing the "get well soon" bit for him as a way to get all the kiddos on the WWF mailing list - Hogan was actually off shooting a movie.

Dean Malenko's hokey injury that he sat at home with. On the other hand, Bret Hart's injury during the same time was not a work. That was a real injury. He was suffering from a very legitimate groin tear the likes of which Malenko had never seen.

Just the US military? I figured it was every single serviceman to ever serve in any country in the entire world, including a few resurrected zombies from the Civil War for good measure.
