Can we be best friends? I've NEVER understood the love for Matt Ryan
He's probably going to the HOF
For what, exactly?

For what, exactly? Probably end his career with a better than 2:1 TD:INT ratio, 400+ TD and 50,000+ yards. He'll be top 10 in Passing TDs and Yards when he retires. HOF

HOF His numbers are a bit misleading seeing as he plays glorified arena ball for a minimum of 9 games a year (8 home dome games and a road dome game vs the Saints). And in the big moments he craps himself. Look, I'm not suggesting he's a bum by any means. He's a good QB that gets treated like a GREAT QB

The NFL Hall of Fame is going to morph into the Hall of Mediocre the second people call for Phillip Rivers to get in
And it's going to happen. And people will act like Phillip was some transcendent star. They'll act like he's just as good as Dan Marino.
It's going to happen. You all know it.

There's is going to be a glut of QBs going into the hall of fame going forward and fewer and fewer RBs for the simple reason they don't play long enough.
I mean are Frank Gore, Steven Jackson, Chris Johnson and Matt Forte all going to the hall of fame ?

He's got the numbers, he got those numbers despite not having the best receivers, he had a couple of bad years thanks to a horrible O-Line, and while he doesn't have a ring the best Chargers team was killed by Schottenheimer. If he had a coach that would coach to win in the playoffs, he would have a ring, but Schottenheimer coached not to lose and teams knew it. He almost led the Chargers to a win over the undefeated Past in the AFC Championship Game in Foxboro on one freaking leg.

Derek Jeter would have been a Hall of Famer on any team

Now I love the NFL, and I love the NBA during the playoffs, but I think pro sports are rigged to a certain extent. There's way too much money involved for it not to be. Check this out: the 2 back to back ties in the NFL this week and last week I think are tied to the World Series. Get this: the last time there were ties in back to back weeks in the NFL was 1997. The Redskins were involved in the 2nd of the ties of each respective year. That year the Indians lost the World Series in 7 games to the Florida Marlins. Golden State overcame a 3-1 deficit to against OKC to get to the Finals. The Cleveland Cavaliers overcame a 3-1 deficit against GS to win the Finals who were the best team in the league. That win gave the city of Cleveland a championship which it hadn't had for over 50 years. Now in the World Series, the Cubs are down 3-1 and will come back to win in 7 games and will give the Cubs a championship which they haven't won in 108 years. Just something I've been thinking about. If I'm wrong I'm wrong, but I think this is too connected for me not to be. I think if there was some type of fixing going on they (whoever the hell "they" are) wouldn't do something as blatant as having two kickers miss field goals from inside 30 yards in over-time. I just don't see how you can fix games which involve hundreds of coaches and playing staff and numerous officials without somebody somewhere speaking out against it.

The ideas of clutch and choking are dumbed down takes for sports fans who don't want to get involved in nuance.

There have been 2001 flags thrown in the NFL this year through 120 games. Almost 17 per game. This is killing the game.

The game has become so offensive and fantasy driven it ruins the actual game in favor of a stat battle.

Here I go:
- David Ortiz got a free pass (RE: PEDs) because he was a good quote. The media hated guys like Bonds and Rocket (and they both were assholes, FWIW) and relish in keeping them out of the Hall
- There are no worse try-hard "Please like my sport" fans than hockey fans
- LeBron is on his way to being the GOAT
- Connor McDavid is already the best hockey player in the world
- Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott's early season dominance is almost solely predicated on how good the Cowboys' O-line is
- A one-loss SEC team is better than an undefeated PAC-12 team
- The Colts might be the most mismanaged team in the NFL right now
- The Leafs will win the Cup in the next five years
- No pitcher will ever hit the 300-win plateau again

Derek Jeter would have been a Hall of Famer on any team No doubt, but if he was in a mid or smaller market his HOF Induction would be like Craig Biggio or Robin Yount and not treated like he was the best player of his era when he was never even the best at his position.

- No pitcher will ever hit the 300-win plateau again I feel like it could happen if you have someone with a rubberarm that's a slightly better version of Jamie Moyer and starts his MLB career younger.

The Leafs LOL. They JUST got good again, and you're like "Championship!" There are very, very good Ducks and Caps and Rangers etc teams the past several years who have nothing to show for it. Only 1 of those teams has a Cup appearance at that. Do the Leafs project to be better than those teams? Can't say for sure yet, but they got a ways to go. The Boston media has always been favorable to the teams. When a guy is good or important to the team, they will take it soft on him regardless of almost anything he does. Ortiz would have gotten torn apart in the NY media if he played for the Yanks, but the Boston media swept it under the rug. The SEC is back in wildly overrated territory. How Ole Miss was ranked with a barely over .500 record was a joke. You put A&M and Washington on a neutral field with no line, and I'll be Wash all day.

Of course there are some members of the media here that are towel wavers for the 4 Boston sports teams, but there are a LOT of miserable pricks in this town that shred the crap out of everyone and anyone

Maybe not unanimously, but overall, he did about as well as he could have. Same with Pierce when they got good. On one hand, it's kind of refreshing that they aren't overly critical the way other major markets are (NY being the worst, LA, DC), but they also lambaste the shit out of anybody on their way out of town. Not to mention that so many of their major reporters are the hardcorest of homers by any standard. If they aren't the easiest on superstars of major markets, then they're not far off the leader. It's not ALL sunshine, but they're very easy on their stars. Until they leave. So yeah, it's a very team-oriented media group. And it has a very well known reputation as such.

Kershaw & Bumgarner can get close if they remain healthy and continue to get around 15 wins for the next 10-12 seasons.
