DOOMED: Rex Ryan, Chip Kelly, Mike McCoy, Hue Jackson, Chuck Pagano, John Fox, Sean Payton, Marvin Lewis HOT SEAT: Mike McCarthy, Jim Caldwell, Mike Tomlin That seems incredibly harsh on McCathy, Caldwell and Tomlin to me. Rex Ryan, Mike McCoy and John Fox must be certain to go. Bowles is a possibility but I think the Jets will give him another year. I'd hope Hue Jackson and Chip Kelly get one more chance to rescue the wreck of a team that they inherited. The one I'm most uncertain about is Pagano. I know Irsay said he doesn't expect major changes in Indy but it seemed certain that Pagano was going last year and he retained him, I just don't know what that guy thinks.

As far as Pagano goes, if the Colts team that showed up yesterday shows up for the final two games of the season, there is no way he gets fired. They made the Vikings look like amateurs. Granted, the Vikes are not the most complete team of the NFL, but at least they looked competitive in all of their other games this season that I watched.

Todd Bowles isn't going to be fired this season. Sure the Jets are a dumpster fire organization but I would hope Woody would be smart enough to realize firing him would be a mistake as of right now.

McCarthy should be off the hotseat after the past month

McCarthy should be off the hotseat after the past month To me, that team has been too talented to only have one NFC Title and Super Bowl. They seem to underachieve when they should be one of the dominate teams and that should have him on the hot seat.

It's not *all* on Mike McCarthy, because the front office has done a dreadful job of fixing the defensive deficiencies on that team over the last 5 years. That said, McCarthy has basically coasted by because he has Rodgers to keep them afloat. He's a decent offensive coach, but a mediocre in game coach at best. You put Belichick or Harbaugh at the helm and there's a couple of NFC titles and a another Superbowl win under the Packers' belt

McCarthy should be off the hotseat after the past month The Packers' last four games have saved Mike McCarthy's job, although you could argue that outside of the win over Seattle, they've done nothing to really impress anyone or to show that they're anything other than a one-and-done playoff team. They beat the Eagles on the road on Monday Night but we're learning that Philadelphia's nothing special, they barely scraped by the Texans at home, and they needed a borderline Hail Mary to overcome gagging away a 17-point lead in Chicago. Unless the Packers lose their final two games of the season and miss the playoffs, McCarthy's job is safe. As for the news that trickled out last night, that Jon Gruden could be a front-runner for the Rams' head coaching vacancy, let me say that any team that hires Gruden deserves the inevitable 6-10 season that's coming. Gruden has been out of the league since 2008. If he coaches a game in 2017, it'll be the first time he's done so in nine seasons. The game has evolved a lot since 2008 and I don't know if Gruden has evolved with it from his space in the Monday Night Football booth.

McCarthy should be off the hotseat after the past month Unless the Packers lose their final two games of the season and miss the playoffs, McCarthy's job is safe. Unless they completely self implode (like, losing by 25-30 in both games), McCarthy will be safe. This season will have the excuse of there being too many injuries/departures in the secondary, which admittedly isn't wrong. But the real problem is that McCarthy just isn't a good playcaller, and really needs to step down if we're going to win another Super Bowl with Rodgers.

Pagano has to go. Andrew Luck has a ceiling with him as the coach. Fox, well...Fox is gonna Fox. The Saints are looking to "trade" Payton. When was the last time the coach was part of a deal? And Marvin Lewis seems like Jeff Fisher 2.0. How many years can you go without winning or even getting to the Super Bowl? Or getting out of the first round of the playoffs? Granted, his dickhead players screwed him last year. McCarthy manages to get bailed out by Rodgers every year, and he got a Super Bowl. Caldwell and the Lions look solid, and Stafford has won without Megatron. Tomlin isn't going anywhere. The Steelers have had three coaches in like fifty years. Plus, he won a Super Bowl his second year and took them to a second a short time later, losing to the MVP, the aforementioned Aaron Rodgers.

I don't see John Fox going anywhere. The Bears right now are a glorified practice squad with all their injuries. Drop Cutler instead. The guy has had the entire coaching staff turned around numerous times to protect his sorry ass and play to his strengths and he can't stay healthy long enough to make it work.

Updated for Buffalo. Still cannot believe McCoy isn't gone. I think they're waiting for next Monday to give him his walking papers. Looking around the league, it feels like there will only be five head coaching jobs available heading into 2017: Buffalo, Jacksonville, and Los Angeles are confirmed, San Diego feels imminent and Indianapolis feels likely. Every other head coach at this point feels like they're safe. Even 1-14 Hue Jackson and 2-13 Chip Kelly will likely get a second season in their respective organizations to right the ships in Cleveland and San Francisco. I know there's been some scuttle about New Orleans parting ways with Sean Payton or Baltimore axing John Harbaugh, but I'd be floored if either happened. Those are two very good head coaches and I have doubts that there are better coaches on the market. The only other possibility might be Gary Kubiak in Denver, but those rumors are only because of Kubiak's health and it feels like Wade Phillips would inherit the job if Kubiak does step down.

I don't wanna see Fox go yet. Get rid of Cutler and give Fox another year to show some promise at rebuilding the team.
