But don't anymore. I kind of feel like I outgrew Kevin Smith's movies Although I think I can still enjoy the two Clerks movies. It's not from the 1990's but I tried to rewatch Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back a while ago and couldn't get through it. Dogma kind of felt like a chore too. Afraid to try with Mallrats and Chasing Amy.

There's probably a bunch of shitty movies I liked as a kid.

For some reason, as a child, I adored Captain Ron. I think I just liked Kurt Russell and enjoyed Martin Short in other stuff. Now, I seriously doubt I'd sit through it again.

I remember liking Drop Dead Fred as a kid, then years later watching the NC review, it hit me how much stupid s*** happened in that movie.

But don't anymore. I kind of feel like I outgrew Kevin Smith's movies . This. I watched Clerks about ten years ago, and while in 1994 thought that it perfectly summed up what I wanted from life, in the mid 2000s I found myself thinking what a bunch of wasters Dante and his friends were. I was disappointed not to like the film as much as I did, but realised that things move on and that the films were very much of their time.

Don't hate me but I used to love the Police Acadamy movies when I was younger. But I tried watching Mission to Moscow last week and had to tap out after half an hour, it was absolute drivel.

Kevin Smith movies definitely are unwatchable nowadays. They're a product of a bygone time, when it was hip to swear a lot (at least for me)
I used to really enjoy Jason Voorhees movies, but bad production values, lame acting and the worsening quality of the series as it went on stands out more in any re-watch nowadays.
A lot has gone by the wayside, though. Every once in a while I'm reminded of a movie I used to really like and, while I end up enjoying it, I think I enjoy remembering how much I liked it more than the actual movie itself...

Pains me to say it but Jim Carrey movies. Same reason - probably outgrew it.

Pains me to say it but Jim Carrey movies. Same reason - probably outgrew it. The Mask I think still holds up well, his other 90s comedies... not so much. In that same vein, the Austin Powers movies, the first one has good stuff, but after that...

Go Mallrats
I think Swingers and Chasing Amy still hold up surprisingly well though.

I tried to watch Ace Ventura a few years ago and cringed through about thirty minutes before turning it off. It's hard to believe there was I point in my life where I must have said "allllll righty then" like 10 times a day.

It's kind of amazing to watch Ace Ventura now and see how this was the movie that made Jim Carrey a star

Austin Powers 1 & 2 (and 3, even though it's from the 2000s)
used to enjoy them a lot, then my sister and my dad literally watched The Spy Who Shagged Me every day for over a month.
not only can I no longer stand Austin Powers, but any movie were Mike Myers does a bad Scottish accent, so no Shrek either

Dumb and Dumber kind of holds up well too, but that has to do more with the fact that its more a series of comedic vignettes with a (admittedly weak) plot shoehorned in (plus, i found the diarrhea scene juvenile even when I first saw it).

It's hard to believe there was I point in my life where I must have said "allllll righty then" like 10 times a day. Well the crying game parody ending really doesn't do it any favors. Hell I watched it again a couple of years ago and I couldn't help but think to myself there is no way you could get away with such an ending without getting a metric ton of backlash.
