Yup. It feels like they are addressing the concern about the show's notorious glacial pace. Like I'm so glad it only took two episodes to bring him back. Apparently fans figured out the "Fring's Back" anagram before they'd even approached Giancarlo about working on the show. They were just hoping he wasn't kidding in an interview when he said he'd love to work on the show. It was a matter of time he would be back. I remember the actor was saying he would love to appear in Season 5 and pitched more flashback scenes that would mirror Walter White's path. But yeah episode 3 Saul is going to jail. Like this season is already the fastest moving season yet.

See the thing is, we wouldn't have had the Saul we had in Breaking Bad, if Chuck had any faith in Jimmy. Chuck created the "Criminal Lawyer" he was afraid of because he didn't think people can change their nature. And yet, for at least half a season, Chuck has been a vindictive asshole for no good reason, apparently disproving his own theories on change. Chuck's also really jealous of the way everyone seems to like Jimmy instantly. It's something Chuck can't do. He's the stiff, knowledgeable, guy on his high horse, not the easy-going fun-loving charismatic guy that Jimmy is. I think Chuck wants to tear him down because of it. To show everyone that Jimmy's not someone who should be liked just out of spite. Oh my God he's Frank Grimes.

Man these guys know how to make a television show. Such an animated universe, I just binged watched Season 2 and the first two of Season 3. Such amazing patience, the flash forwards that literally only move forward at the start of every season, I can see how it's a slog for some people but I love how detailed everything is, from watching Mike recon his enemies, the madness that is Chuck's life, I really appreciate the pacing of everything. Doesn't feel like they've lost a single step since Breaking Bad.
I struggle to be too sympathetic towards Jimmy, personally. Chuck's playing really dirty but I don't know if he's really doing anything outside of Jimmy's wheelhouse. I don't find recording his conversation with Jimmy to be anything Jimmy wouldn't have done back, the Xerox scam, even if he had nobler intentions, had pretty catastrophic results on Chuck as well. They're pretty much equally awful to each other I find. Chuck is certainly bitter and hard on Jimmy, but Jimmy does earn it, and Chuck might be right to believe that Jimmy in the long run is a bad influence on Kim, seems like he's liable to ruin her career completely with his shortcuts. Definitely makes for an interesting show anyways, you can feel sympathy for both sides for their own reasons, Jimmy cheats but he has heart, Chuck is getting more and more despicable by the show but he's quite a tragedy too.
Those flash forwards are so depressing, even for a guy who winds up being villainous as Saul, to see his essence sucked away to such an extreme is so jarring.

Best episode of the series so far I think. I love the way I wrote off the opening scene of the shoes, as just a cool moody scene, only for it to be revealed as a flash forward showing that Los Pollos has taken over that route thanks to Mikes work. Awesome stuff.
I feel like Saul will be born at the expense of Kim, and we'll all be calling for his head by the time this story finishes.
Oh, and Chuck is a massive knob.

Jimmy telling how Chuck was going to die a painful lonely death was just so cold that even Chuck looked really caught off guard and torn by that. That was just brutal. Great episode and Gus was the greatest salesman ever. I got chills from that scene the way he played Mike like a fiddle to get him to do his doing. Nobody not Walter, Jesse, Saul, or anyone played out Mike to get something out of him better than Gus. That was cold, smooth, always three steps ahead, and calculating. Vintage Gus.

So, what's the secret plan? Why did they need to take pictures of Chuck's house? My first idea is getting proof that Chuck is dangerous to himself and unless they drop charges they're going to reveal Chuck's mental status to the authorities.

Pretty sure the first part is definitely where it's going but I don't think they're gonna threaten them I think they're gonna use it to call into question Chuck's legitimacy and if he even knows Jimmy really did anything. I also think they made sure Chuck clearly mentioned the tape on the record so they can keep him from playing the copy for the court.

For me, this ep pulled ahead of Breaking Bad at this point in its run.
BCS has characters I actually root for while still having moral ambiguity and the whole Bar association testimony ep was a thing of beauty both in terms of writing and acting.

While I wouldn't say I like it better than Breaking Bad, I'd definitely say it's in the ballpark in terms of quality. Which, considering Breaking Bad was iconic before it even ended, is pretty remarkable.
It also keeps up the Breaking Bad tradition of wonderful cinematography and editing. That final shot of the exit sign with Chuck in he background was beautiful.

Tonight's episode was so so good. That last scene with Chuck snapping and showing his true colors was awesome. Better Call Saul has really hit its stride and it is one of my favorite shows on TV today.

I finally got around to watching Breaking Bad (I binged the series for the first time in the last month... finished the final two episodes today) and I appreciate BCS even more now. I flipped when Huell showed up.
And lord I love seeing Chuck get outsmarted.

what i love about this show is that, from the events of breaking bad, Chuck is right about Jimmy being a shifty, criminal lawyer. But he comes off as so condescending and holier than thou, you can't help but dislike him. Plus it could be argued his actions are what lead Jimmy to become Saul in the first place and if he had taken him into his firm as a lawyer, it all could have be avoided

As shifty as Jimmy is, Chuck comes across WAY MORE manipulative and cold, even at his supposedly "more respectable" level of practicing law.

Prediction: Howard cuts ties with Chuck, removes the "M" from HHM, brings on Kim as a partner and renames the firm HHW.

I love this show, but I just want this season to end with Chuck going down in flames. Oh how I hate him. Edit: {Spoiler}Just finished last night's episode. I was fist-pumping at Chuck getting outed/destroyed/whatever you want to call it at the end of the episode. Down with Chuck!

Jimmy is on the urge of becoming a monster. Chuck knows this and isn't wrong. But Chuck's meddling and overbearing attitude furthered the path when he could of went on a more nurturing path. By doing this Chuck starts to become everything he himself hated. It's pretty tragic. But that was probably the best episode yet and this is the best season yet by far.
