Couldn't tell ya, I completely missed 95 and didn't see 1 second of Mabel... Not that I'm bragging or anything 😀

A guy who at his size can pull off enzuigiris and spinning heel kicks can not possibly be bad.

I'd say more misguided. A fat guy in yellow MC Hammer trousers and a crown isn't exactly scary.

Well in my opinion two things killed him.
First he was coming off the stupid Men on a Mission gimmick and people just couldn't take him seriously.
Then he also hurt everyone he worked with, Taker then Kevin Nash, even the Samoans, Nash joked in a wwf timeline shoot that if you actually managed to hurt a Samoan then it's time to close the ride. Mabel could actually be one of me most wreckless wrestlers ever.

It was more just blah. Even with his size, he'd never really been a threat. So it was more like "he's goin for the title? Yeah, ok."
People have been comparin the stopgap Jinder push to JBL's, honestly Mabel's is more apt

He was much better later as Viscera and Big Daddy V.
He was Barney as King Mabel. Big, Purple, and green.

Yes I think a redesign would've worked wonders, Lose the early 90's hip hop look (It looked daft)and update it with a Gangsta Rap look ala Biggie Smalls

Yes. Men on a Mission were basically a JTTS team, Mabel was physically impressive but he still had zero credibility when he turned heel, going from painting himself up as Doink to being a scowling monster without ever really being booked as a threat along the way. The fact he hurt his opponents didn't help matters any, his sitdown splash was just evil because it didn't protect his opponent at all, it was like no-one told him that wrestling is only supposed to look like it hurts.

Don't think it helped who he was working with at that time.
Also needed to change the look instead of just adding a crown.
If he'd been wrestling Bret & Shawn instead of Diesel & Undertaker it may be looked upon more favourably as the matches should be better.

He was dropping his full weight onto people with little regard for their wellbeing, neither Bret nor Shawn are talented enough to get a passable match from someone like that.

You know the caricature of dudes like Ryback being so sloppy and reckless they're basically walking disaster machines who nobody comes out of a match unscathed against? Mabel was that but real

I do want to say that I don't think credibility was entirely the issue, since his credentials kinda spoke for themselves. He was f***ing huge. But so was Nash, Undertaker, Yokozuna, and I guess Bundy, so yeah, him beating someone based on that isn't really something that would be questionable, but he got too rapid a push to have the momentum needed, but that's 1995 in a nutshell, shit happening too quickly because of desperation.

After 2 years with Mo, he was still a really really bad and dangerous worker. It was a horrible Vince brainfart to push him to a title shot at the 2nd biggest PPV
However, as others pointed out, he wasn't a big threat. No big victories against important opponents, not many big scary beatdowns, no real look change (just going to more black colored attire)...trainwreck status
After Summerslam, Vince came to his senses and put the brakes on this experiment

Unwatchable for me. But that sums up 1994-early 2000s WWF/WWE for me.

Given the alternatives - HBK or Taker winning the King of the Ring and main-eventing against Diesel and Bret, yes it was.

Yep, he was terrible, although I still love Mo's KOTR speech.
