I'll take their word for it and also Nikki who has been very candid about how that particular promo hurt her. If you read everyone's answers on the subject, it paints a clear enough view of what went down more or less. Eh, you might be right. It begs the question of exactly what the payoff would have been. In 2014, after beating Emma on Smackdown I think, Nikki cut a promo on AJ that was chopped up in editing for being too 'face-like'. She was a heel at the time. So that probably would have been the payoff, a year earlier, with the women in the proper alignments. But emotions were too raw and we settled into the second half of AJ's reign where no woman was allowed to go near a mic at all.

Would have been a better promo had those Bella bitches kept their mouths shut, the useless Kardashian wannabes. Just take your slut shaming! Just take it! It's fine because I don't like you!

And again, that character doin the shaming didn't make a lick of sense given that in storyline she was at least as promiscuous.

About AJ being a promiscuous character, when a performer settles into a new/altered gimmick does their history get brought up that much?
Matt tried to set Jeff on fire. That doesn't get brought up. It might not even if they feud again. Daniel being an abusive boyfriend doesn't get brought up. Primo is suddenly more serious. I'm not passing a verdict here but it's common that previous iterations of a character get ignored. With AJ, they kept the crazy part but papered over everything else once she started wrestling regularly.

The Bellas no-selling the whole thing was really f***ing annoying. They were being slut-shamed. I'm glad they no-sold it. It's funny how people are okay with slut shaming depending on who is on the recieving end of it. Eh, to me they went overboard to the point it started hitting "the lady doth protest too much".
But of course, it was already a stupid enough promo coming from #AJall. NOBODY came out of that looking remotely well.

Their characters were consistently booked as sluts. They were all over every guest host on RAW. That being said, if they wanted the Bellas to respond, give them a segment where they can do so clearly and coherently. You don't have people yelling over a promo, no matter the content.

I wouldn't say this, because it led to a dreadful survivor series match, I'd say the turning point was Paige Vs Emma when someone upstairs finally got a clue that women could have good matches if they had more than 3 minutes again (even if that wasn't on the level of Bayley Vs Sasha by any means)

AJ's character was based on insanity for the most part rather than promiscuity. Bryan dumped her, she goes crazy. Punk shows her some kindness, she wants to marry him. She develops a fixation on Kane, then imitates him. A lunatic.

It's funny how people are okay with slut shaming depending on who is on the recieving end of it. I actually wish this was more common in wrestling. When someone is getting completely buried in the promo and they know it they should tank the segment as best as they can. Which is another reason why I have a strong dislike of HHH because he knows nobody would stand up against him during a burying promo especially during his 2008 onslaught.

Austin: "The first thing I want done..." Jake: "WOO HOO....SAY IT TO MY FACE" Austin: "Is to get that piece of trash out of my ring" Jake: "WOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOO YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH WOOOOOO" Austin: "Don't just get him out of the ring, get him out of the damn business" Jake: "SAY IT TO MY FACE STEEEEVE!!!" Nah. It doesn't work. One person cuts a promo, and the other responds, or you have a face-to-face where each wrestler can say their piece in a way that builds up a feud and storyline. Having one person speak while the other just screams and shouts incessantly does no one any good, especially the person/s yelling. The Bellas looked like fools doing that.

Crazy or no, the character was hookin up with more people on screen. The details matter, given the nature of the character. It was usually portrayed as "she needs help". Even Kane looked at her as if to say "yeah, she's not right"

It really, really doesn't if you're trying to paint her in the right while she's criticizing for the same behavior.
You can be a fan of someone and recognize when their character's writing is off.

That's just cherry picking and context. That promo was far from anything from a burial and it was Austin's post match promo addressing the crowd and TV Camera's and not directly to the wrestler's face inside the wrestling ring. Not an in ring promo. Like I would of loved if Booker T tanked or had some rebuttal during Triple H's "People Like You Promo." Or "LOL JOHN CENA U HAVE BAD WORKRATEZ" built up for Wrestlemania 22 where Cena just responds much later with a I have great amount of respect for you and I do suck in the ring when beforehand Cena was a guy who wasn't afraid to trash talk anybody else. Or any promo Triple H did during Smackdown 2008 where he would make fun of MVP/Brian Kendrick/Shelton Benjamin/Chavo for having a stupid look/bad wrestling skills/being a disappointment/bad promo skills/being small in his smarky shoot style.

Heels are supposed to be hypocrites and say things that aren't true. I get saying the promo didn't help anything or not liking it. But I don't get faulting a heel for heeling.

They were the banner girls in the guest host segments. Thats like saying the Price is Right girls are sluts for Drew Carey. It makes no sense to just sit there and take that kind of verbal abuse. Yell back. Its realistic.

I can, because there are significant differences between the characters in question and the explanation for their behaviour. In any case, the main element of my criticism of the Bellas in that promo was that they tried to drown it out with stupid screaming which made them look like idiots.

Ignoring the Bella aspect of this: It's shitty practice to have anyone, let alone a champion come out and cut a quasi shoot about how eeryone else in the divison is terrible.
Go watch Punk's "shoot" promo again: He doesn't say that Cena or the Rock suck, nor does he say he hates Cena (in fact says the opposite), instead he says that *he's better than they and everyone else is*. THAT is how you do it.
