I don't get how something made and produced 3 years before the tragedy comes off as creepy now. Plus if WWE had gotten him the help he needed, these kinds of conversations wouldn't exist because at most he would've died from his heart issue. So in theory, I blame WWE for not getting him help in time. How do you feel about Subway commercials with Jared?

Old stuff, nostalgic that sorta thing.

I personally have absolutely no problem whatsoever watching Chris Benoit matches.
Absolutely he is scum for what he did.
But I'm not a bad person just because I can still enjoy watching his work.
But I will by no means defend him for what he did..

Jezum, are those rose-colored glasses glued to your face? Memories do get sullied by skeletons being out of the closet, I understand, but you don't poo-poo the unpleasant stuff and say "nostalgia" is why they are still pure.

Enough with all of the bickering, honestly.
Can we all just agree that the whole thing is a horrible, f***ed up tragedy that left an innocent woman and child dead, and a man's legacy not even as a performer, but a human being, completely destroyed?
We can debate the coulda, shoulda, woulda until we're blue in the face, but those are the facts.

I understand still wanting to watch his work. If you consume any sort of entertainment, your bound to enjoy something that involves a less than upstanding individual. Sometimes you just have to hold your nose and swallow. Though Benoit is certainly an extreme example of this. What I don't understand, is the need to rationalize the person's actions. Benoit did indfensible things. There are other things that point to him being not such a great guy. But if you can still enjoy his work on some level, go ahead. John Lennon was a woman beating dick. I would never defend him from that. But I'm still going to listen to Abbey Road whenever I want.

If you still enjoy his work than there's no problem with that tho it's understandable why some can't watch his matches. The divide comes in trying to defend him or rationalize his actions

When the tragedy went down, I was 16, Benoit was my favorite wrestler, and I was pumped as hell for him to win the ECW title at the PPV that weekend. I'd finished school for the summer and when the news broke, I decided to binge watch all my favorite matches of his because nobody then knew what was really happening. The day after, when the news broke, I felt so disgusted I actually threw up, and it kinda threw me off for a while; I didn't take finding out my favorite wrestler murdered his family well at all. Since then, I've not watched a single one of his matches. I liked the guy enough that finding out what he did kicked me into a small depression, and even I can't even begin to stomach the idea of these demands he go into the Hall of Fame or that WWE "get over" what happened and give him the respect he's allegedly due. What he did is so many times over any kind of line of forgiveness or understanding.

This thread is going to be locked, so I'll just say, the guy murdered his wife and kids. There are a billion great wrestlers out there, where you don't have to even think about the morality of the person, yet not only do you choose to watch it, but you go to a message board to promote this fact. I don't know, this seems more about getting attention than it is any moratorium of Chris Benoit.

To this very day it's still shocking as to what transpired. Regardless of whatever you believe might've, should've, and would've happened it still doesn't change that it's a tragedy across the board. A family experienced horrible loss that shouldn't be wished upon anyone, friends within the wrestling community lost someone who was a mentor to them.
I still find myself watching Benoit matches from time to time. It just sucks that they can't be celebrated, promoted, or appreciated by the company because they would essentially be honoring a murderer. Like a lot of people I have my beliefs on what I feel happened. However, in the end, the outcome is still the same and you have Benoit, Nancy, and Daniel who died way before their time.

I merely was expressing my feelings that had someone noticed in time, Benoit's life could've had a much happier story.

I didn't know anyone actually cared enough about the Jared ads to feel ANYTHING about them. They aren't funny, creative, or profound. They're just "I used to be fat guys. Then I ate a bunch of these and now, not so much. Give it a try or something"

I don't actively seek his stuff out but I can watch it with no problem. Can't say I'm upset with them erasing him from history though.

I've never excused what he did, I just don't like the fact that those of us who can watch his matches are assumed to be sympathizers/defenders to Benoit.

Yeah I'm not comfortable with the shaming of people who can still enjoy his work. Let's scale that back please.
