That's the problem. We have no reason to trust they'll do the right thing. WWE is untrustworthy when they try to handle real life issues like racism. bingo. The 2 most disgusting angles ever that the heel NEEDED to lose, were "People like you shouldn't be champion" and Piggie James. WWE is 2 for 2 on f***ing this up. immediately after the Piggy James thing James beat Layla and Mccool at survivor series match and then like a month later beat the pair in 20 seconds to win the title. Layla and McCool were pretty blatantly painted as being in the wrong and their entire character were supposed to be vapid bimbos.

The WWE has tried this a few times, like with the Mexicools and Kerwin White. A character who's so angry about the crowd's racism, they become an obnoxious, trolling bad guy as performance art to expose and mock the fans' prejudice. I think that's what they're going for here? They think it's a clever way to have a stereotyped foreign heel without getting in trouble. Someone should tell them.

Be a jerk and then try and claim that the crowd doesn't like them because they're racist. Even the original promo people say was a face promo had the accusatory tone to it.

So in the context of Kayfabe without having seen the promo yet, a heel saying heel shit and people are angry?

in other news, subscriptions in India have apparently gone down since Jinders been champ. Punjab population is a very small part of India. So using Punjabi to talk to the 1.3 billion Indian people is another "ignorant mistake"

It doesn't help Jinders not that good on the mic. I actually don't mind humor that touches on race and racism. It breaks tension and diffuses stereotypes. Or helps with a narrative. Like Chappelles stand up or the movie Gran Torino. This is just stupid and lame.

"Behind your back, they'll say your hair was done by a dog groomer. Behind your back, they'll call you Mr. Miyagi." He also straight up yelled "GOZIRRA" on the mic last week and told him he looked like Pikachu having a seizure. He also said "rook" instead of "look". He also made some mention of eating whales and cats

A cheating heel who can't even use the bathroom without the help of the Bollywood Boys is not going to strike a chord with this fanbase.

Heels doing bad things is fine. But at the same time pro wrestling should be escapism viewing, fans shouldn't feel uncomfortable about what they're watching. Especially with something as much of a hot button issue as racism is right now.

I always thought it would be a clever twist that the foreign heel who is accusing the crowd of being xenophobic and jingoistic was actually a hypocrite projecting his insecurities of actually the biggest jingoist for his country and xenophobe and feuding with another foreigner exposes his tendencies.
But this is so lame and boring. Jinder isn't compelling enough to cut a promo and comes across as a lame standup comedian who is bombing so he's resorting to shock racist tactics. Also The Singh Brothers fake over the top reactions are well just fake and not funny just forced and lame.
Like it would be alright if Nakamura just beats the shit out of those bump machines of The Singh Brothers but no it's just watching a boring a uncomfortable promo that feels longer than every HHH Reign of Terror promo with no payoff in the end.
It bombed the first time so lets redo it a second time in a row and make it longer! Brilliant!

It would get shut down by people who don't like Jinder but yea I got to watch the promo sometimes later because anything Jinder related has a tendency to get clown out of proportion. My biggest takeaway from what people are saying is the fact it was a radically charged promo without any substance and just a vehicle to make people angry with what he is saying

"WWE's problem is the heels aren't really heels anymore, they're too sympathetic or justifiable" *Heel does something bad* "OMG WWE have gone too far the people in charge are such monsters!" It's not the first time I've noticed this either. When Seth Rollins did the Edge angle people complained. I don't get some fans, they want genuine bad guys but then are oversensitive the minute one comes along. I'll preface this by saying I haven't seen any of the promos, just the recaps. From what I gather, It's a heel who thinks the crowd dislikes him because of his ethnicity, (instead of because he's a bad guy who can't win on his own) projecting that idea onto his opponent, who the crowd DOES like, because he wins and is a good wrestler. I don't find anything terribly offensive about this. The bad guy does and says bad things, and presumably, gets his comeuppance in the end. Hmm looking at it this way it's kinda smart. A foreign heel thinks he's disliked because of his race and he uses that anger to say the same thing about his opponent to hurt them. On the flip side, the crowd likes his opponent but given what Mahal's gone through in his life, his mindset, he thinks the crowd dislikes Nakamura behind his back or will eventually turn on him due to racism, just due to how he, Mahal, had been treated. He thinks that Nakamura will go through the same path that he went through. At the end of the day however, Mahal's been warped by what he's been conditioned to so he's exactly like those who insult him. One thing's for sure: he's the real racist. Dare I say it, it's like if Muhammad Hassan was done right. ...Oh God I've jinxed it haven't I.

And it's the credited reason for Mickie "leaving" when they shitcanned her like a month later.

It doesn't look like WWE put out an official YouTube video, so they might even have gotten cold feet over this. Can't say I blame them, the Mr. Miyagi line seemed to push the whole thing over the edge.

I still haven't seen it but I'm basically thinking it's like this in a toned down form. Dude, how did you get your hands on early rehearsal footage of next weeks show?
