The sound on this production is hilarious. Usually you don't hear the individual audience members on close ups of the crowd shots.

Oh that crowd shouting KAZE NI NARE gives me shivers.
I NEED to be a part of that once in my life.

The main event was fantastic, I have no problem giving that 5 stars. The storytelling was tremendous. It goes from Kenny not wanting to fight them to getting down right brutal. Once Kenny starts working Matt's back the whole dynamic changes and Nick selling it by saying "Why?" on the apron. Nick seemed to be hitting really hard when he came in for the tag after that, I wonder if that elbow is what got Kenny's eye? Kota making Kenny do the V-Trigger and Matt making Kenny finish the One Winged Angel were two of my favorite moments. But after being so brutal, there was no coming back, even though Kenny thought he could still repair the friendship and those two moments showed that everyone knew it was too late but him. The Bucks, who seemed to be almost more with Kenny, most likely are going to be drawn to Cody and their relationship with Kenny is beyond repair. Other than that, the 2nd half of the show was definitely the better part. I actually enjoyed Liger/Ospreay quite a bit, even though it was relatively short. Cody/Scurll vs G.O.D made things very interesting. I have no idea where any of this is going now after that match and the main event. Kota Ibushi has been tagging with the Tongans and they seem to be cool with it. While Tama is clearly making a power play to become the next leader and aired his problems with Kenny at the G1, it almost seems he might accept Kenny if he steps back in leadership. Matt not giving Tama the "too sweet" probably didn't help anything. But at the same time, much like with the Young Bucks in the past, Kenny is putting his relationship with Kota above everything else. No idea how this is all going to play out. Other than that, Suzuki and Ishii facing off was great stuff. Hope they have a title match at some point. Also, what was up with Jay White trying to kill Page!? You could tell both Ross and Barnett were just like "what the f*** !?" at some of those spots. If you watch it back, White actually tried to save Page during that shooting star shoulder block off the apron.

The Golden Lovers vs. The Young Bucks I didn’t watch live, so I came into this hearing all the high praise that this might’ve been the greatest tag team match in history. That right there is one of the biggest issues I have with many of Meltzer's reviews. Watching something after the fact and being given certain expectations (especially someone who watches as many matches as he does) makes it really hard not to taint the overall score. It certainly doesn't help that commentary was completely burying all of the story being told due to their lack of proper research on the product they were calling (it wasn't just this match either). Not saying his score is blatantly wrong or anything like that, just that you'd think with one of the few NJPW shows airing in prime time in the US he would've made half the effort to watch it as it was being broadcast. Meltzer was physically in the arena for the show.

Meltzer was physically in the arena for the show. ...that makes it even worse, IMO. How the hell can you be in the arena and not watch the Main Event live?? I think you're confused. Kevstaaa does his own match-by-match show reviews on a five star scale, he's not copying over Meltzer's write-ups, which probably won't go up until like Wednesday.

My goodness Cody is a piece of shit. I love that he used proper grammar/punctuation throughout the statement but then threw in a rasslin' slang with the "'outta"

That apron german from Jay White to Hangman Page was absurd. He's lucky he is still walking.

In the ring, he's good but far from a standout performer. As far as character work is concerned, though, he's doing the best work of his career.

JR accidentally calling ZSJ as Ospreay, damn dude. Didn't that happen last year too? Would think he could tell them apart by now.

Sooooooo....yeah, sometimes the terrible production rate can actually mask a few missteps (I fully expect this to be on a future Botchamania).

JR triggered me a bit when he sarcastically apologized for absolutely butchering "Shurl's" name (intentionally saying it wrong yet again when doing so). I mean it's one thing to mess up on pronouncing a guy's name, it's another when you acknowledge you screwed it up and continue to be disrespectful of the talent by still pronouncing it wrong. This isn't the JR of the Attitude Era, this is the JR of the Attitude Problem. Get off the damned table if you can't do your job properly.

It’s amazing how far he’s come since last years Long Beach shows where he was hated because his workrate wasn’t at the level of the top njpw guys now he’s hated because he’s a giant poop head. Its also amazing that Brandi was in wwe for a few years and they did absolutely nothing with her that girl looks like a star and adds a ton to Cody’s presentation.
