Solid show, especially for the amazing Golden Lovers/Bucks match. Exciting spots and storytelling there.
I like how Omega was conflicted about attacking The Bucks early on due to their history as The Elite, before they (Nick being the main aggressor) goaded him into it. Matt selling his back dramatically always gives me a good laugh.
I'm intrigued by the uncertain future of the Bullet Club after seeing the end, with Cody's ego likely causing them to implode any minute.
Lastly: MANIACS GET LOUD HERE!

Just watched and given interviews I've heard, it really seems that the atmosphere didn't come across on the stream. It seemed really muted and that took away as I could see the crowd energised, but couldn't hear it.

Not watched the entire show yet, just the opener and all the Bullet Club stuff, but while the main event was excellent and there was some great character work throughout the GoD/Cody+Scurll match...was everyone involved in this show f***ing jetlagged or something weird in the building air con? Because holy shit...The commentary was awful (I think Callis/Kelly need to be a bit higher energy, they have too many prolonged silences but my god JR & Barnett suck), the production was dreadful, and every match featured multiple botches. Page, Omega and Ibushi all seemed to get legit knocked loopy (The Ibushi moonsault screwup, double superplex wobble, and Omega landing on Ibushi's head were all scary) Kazarian f***ed up a springboard, Jay White couldn't get into position for a spot in 4 attempts then nearly killed Page on the apron..,.and from what I've read Ospreay might have done his leg in the Liger match...what was going on?
Good show but holy shit guys. Stuff got very sloppy and awkward.

Kevin Kelly and Don Callis are goddam perfect. Why weren't they there? The straight-to-the-point answer: Production was done by AXS TV since it was airing on their channel, thus they were required by contract to use JR & Burnett instead of Kelly & Callis. Don't be surprised if the same thing happens at the G1 Special USA at the Cow Palace.

Concerning tag rules in NJPW, I've noticed over the years in many puro promotions that traditional US style tag rules just aren't dwelt on too much. Things like holding the tag rope, or a strict five count when you're not the legal man, it's just made secondary to allowing the action to speak for itself and be what the audience focuses on. Insert an OSW Review "But THE RUUUUULES, Jay!" from V-1, but it's a willful choice to focus on some aspects of wrestling over others.
As for the show itself:
-Overall, definitely sloppier than a typical NJPW show in terms of some spots being messy, but most of the matches worked through them well. Curious if some guys did have some jet lag issues, or if the setup felt a bit off from what it usually is in Japan, something like that. Don't recall having issues like that last year for the G1 Special shows.
-Cow Palace...I went into this summer desperately wanting to visit San Francisco and Chicago, and now NJPW and All-In have given me great excuses. San Fran might be difficult for me to make for a number of reasons, but dag gummit, I'm at least going to try.
-Hmm, Juice has been on the winning side too much against CHAOS of late for me to think he'll dethrone Goto at Sakura Genesis; besides, still feels like Goto has more he can do with his reign, and it's been fun seeing him looking and acting more energized this year compared to last. Honestly, I think something else is in Juice's future, namely...
-The US title. Oh, David, honey, no; I like you, man, and your last match against White was awesome balls, but you know you're not going to win this rematch against him, either. I get the feeling like Juice's first singles title won't be the NEVER, and instead Finlay here will serve the role of getting the ball rolling toward Robinson challenging White (though I could see Juice getting another IC shot, too). Maybe he doesn't win it right away, but best to be patient: he's booked as the meatiest of white meat babyfaces and is an official dojo graduate, they know the crowds in Japan want him to win gold, but probably want to see him struggle a bit more, first, before he gets his crowning moment.
-SUZUKI/ISHII NOW AND FOREVER, PLEASE. That match should headline a card some time in the near future.
-We need fanart of Dragon Lee and Hiromu as Batman and Joker, complete with "You and I are destined to do this forever."
-Classy spot by Rey, and my jaw dropped when Ospreay did the stuff he did on one leg.
-I'm on board the Zachy Two Belts hype train, mostly because I love how different he is from everybody else on the roster. The team of Psychotic Murder Dad and Limb Submission Twink should be welcomed as our new overlords, and should also have its own TV show, featuring TAKA as their whacky housemate who's always cooking up get-rich-quick schemes.
-Point raised earlier about Okada seeming just kind of "being there" sometimes: part of what makes the guy work so well is that he highlights the style of his opponents, which is what allows so many guys to come out of an Okada match looking stronger and better despite losing. You never have to worry about the style of his opponent: Kazu will make it work.
-Interesting to watch, but I feel like once the US based part of NJPW gets off the ground, both KUSHIDA and Ishii would thrive like mad here. in KUSHIDA's case it'd give him a bit of time away from NJPW's Jr. scene, which he's already done just about all he can do in, and it'd be a place where Ishii could main event a good deal because the English-speaking audience adores the guy (DAMN RIGHT WE DO, GET BIT 141)...not that the Japanese crowds don't like him, but it doesn't feel like he's over in quite the same way back home. Honestly, it kind of goes for both guys with regards to the US crowd vs. the Japanese crowd - both are popular back home, but over here I feel like there's a bit more passion for them in an average crowd.
-I have to re-watch White vs. Page, but it definitely picked up steam in the second half. I honestly thought for a bit that the thing with White not moving away from the ropes was intentional, almost like Switchblade trolling Page to ensure he couldn't do the flip-lariat. Not sure Page is ready for a huge singles limelight, but it's interesting to see how he's grown as a performer over the past couple of years, so that might continue.
-Hell of a main event. LOVED the subtle moments, but they'd kind of switch between that and hammy sometimes...I get it, though, one style's for TV and the other's more for the live crowd. Still a ton of directions this can go.
-...Speaking of which, with Tanga Loa speaking for GOD before their match, Tama still kind of officially "gives no @#$%s", doesn't he? Sure, he went hard after Cody, but he kept his face expressionless during the entire build to the start of the match. The countdown to the Tongan performance of Rains of Castamere continues.

My favourite bit of Cody heeling was calling Tama a wrestler and then himself a superstar

"Limb Submission Twink". I love it. It reminds me of how I'd refer to Cody as "The American Twink: Cody Rhodes" Sure Cody's a bit older than when I used to call him that, but finding Twinky guys in wrestling is few and far between. Also I want that sitcom.

Did anyone else see Numero99 (who mysteriously deleted his account here at some point) in the crowd after ZSJ entered the ring?

Been watching the replay and I'm very sure the commentary portion of this received a thorough edit.
Now that I've finished, I'm sure of it. Stuff like JR's sarcastic apology regarding Marty "Shurll", him ragging on that one group of fans, and calling ZSJ Ospreay wasn't in there.

I caught the tail end of the show, last bit of the US Title match and the YBs vs. GLs. Great stuff. That main event was just amazing, after a 30 or so minutes I was wanting to see them hit 60:00, to tell the tale of two evenly matched teams but the end was just great stuff. More than just the craziness of the match but the story from start to finish. Matt giving up a probable victory with More Bang for your Buck to put Kenny through the table to him begging, hell forcing Kenny to put him away with the One Winged Angel. The ending with Cody berating the Bucks for losing and looking like if not for Kenny attacking them.
Just great stuff and I can't with to see SCoH and the next chapter.
Just an aside, I honestly think Josh Barnett is one of the best commentators going. Even if not his preferred style, he puts it over and makes even the smallest move seen important. His calls during the main, he may not have known everything about both teams but he knew enough to push the narrative. Now if he could just get JR to give a shit.

Yeah, Barnett is at least a true fan of the puro style, and he was perfectly fine with Mauro back when the Axs show began. He should be expected to put some more work into grasping the ongoing storylines, but he's got ability as an analyst. But yeah, like it's been said, JR/Barnett with the pre-recorded shows are usually fine; the live ones, thus far, not so much.

I can't recall if I saw Mauro on the AXS shows. I think his style would be horribly ill suited for taped matches. He's way too over the top and I would constantly think "Dude, this match happened 2 years ago. Are you really that shocked at who won?"

On a related note, NJPW are doing Strong Style Evolved in the U.K. and I just bought tickets to the Manchester show. Back row on the floor as I have no monies ATM. Taking the girlfriend and hoping it'll be a better experience than the WCPW show I took her to.
