Now I want Alabama TNA, with 400 guys in every gimmick. Alabama Gail Kim still won't put anybody over though. Conrad and Tony on commentary. TNA needs to have a Clone Invasion storyline where every wrestler ends up feuding or teaming up with their Alabama equivalent.

I guarantee you Anthem is going to try to screw Matt over anyway. "Hey look, everybody! We're not these awful, money-hungry monsters that we've been made out to b- HEY! THAT 'BROKEN' GIMMICK IS OURS! GET AWAY FROM THAT COURTROOM!" The only reason they WOULDN'T do that is because the next big indy name that could come along that they want might go "Oh, so if I do something successful in your company, you might actually screw me over. Well cool, I'll just take this offer Lucha Underground/NXT/NJPW have for me and you enjoy life". Even with TNA's own history...they pretty much need talent to come for smaller stints more than the talent needs them. Because even going to Smash or Glory Pro around the corner would do more for their careers outside of neither of them having TV. I know they shouldn't but we've seen so many bad calls from them already that it'd be more surprising if they DIDN'T do that.

I'm more likely to believe they won't, less so because they don't want to screw over Hardy in that they can't afford to do it. I'd be entirely hypocritical to the talent they just let go from contracts if they suddenly have enough money to keep a practically useless trademark that Anthem can't afford to keep.

Two words: Shark Boy. Please? Think Shark Boy always owned his gimmick. It was why he was able to sue the makers of Shark Boy and Lava Girl and win rather than TNA suing.

Yeah, Shark Boy's had that gimmick since his days doing job work in WCW. I even think he was in WWE developmental for a hot second with the gimmick?

Thankfully for Ol' Buckets O' Cash, it means he can be a whiny douche wherever he goes and TNA won't sue him

Well good thing is now Rosemary can take her gimmick no questions asked anywhere she wants ......unique oppurtunity is a knockin. I think the Rosemary gimmick was already hers anyway, since she’d done a whole big angle on the Canadian indies of Courtney Rush losing her mind and being possessed by some dark entity about a few months before she joined Anthem’s Wrestling-Related Entertainment Show.

See, that's the kind of off-the-rails thinking that could have saved this company.

Amazingly it took Anthem/Nordholm this long to see that f***ing over a beloved character for the better part of a year would paint them in a bad light.
Talk about going from one extreme to the other.
In the end, interesting to go that far with it, but honestly it's probably too little too late.
If this is a way to try and attract new talent, then great, and awesome that Matt stuck it out and won for all current and future talent in Impact. But if you want to continue to attract new talent, revise your contract structure, and stop taking 10% of what you shouldn't be.

Would it be cheaper to drop the whole contracted wrestlers thing and go full on indie and just try to promote one shots and indie supershows?

Would it be cheaper to drop the whole contracted wrestlers thing and go full on indie and just try to promote one shots and indie supershows? That would be them admitting they’re not as big a deal as they are on television instead of having news stories come out of the company hemmoraging money to keep them around! Even though that’d probably be the most logical course of action at this point because, let’s be honest, the only difference between Impact and your local big time indie is television.

I wonder if maybe this is a step towards marketing themselves as the "breeding ground" for the next top talents. With Joe,AJ,Roode, etc. it might be a smart move to work that angle and try to compete with NXT rather than WWE. Realistic goals...

The only thing keeping them afloat is the tv deal. They already have so much turnover that storylines can't develop beyond a taping or 2. If they go full on indie, tv deal will be done.

I'm starting to feel more and more like this move is either them trying to cleverly dance around the idea of them going to indy level without them having to admit it, or they're really not long for this world and this is them entering the bargaining phase of their demise, one step away from full acceptance.

I actually think there are those who like the deal they currently have. Work for one company for one week every four-to-six months. Then they're free to work wherever they want. They could go to Japan or England or Mexico and work entire programs before they have to be back at Impact for TV tapings. It's the main reason someone like Rosemary has no desire to go to WWE.

That's how it should have been from the very beginning. Those independent contractors really have no balls to ask for half of IP they portray. Wrestling would have been a whole another ball game if wrestler could you know get together and protect their own interests instead of stabbing each other at the back for an opportunity to be the CEO's next best buddy.
Come to think of it, how come WCW has never done a storyline where Sting wants to make a wrestler's union only so everyone could turn on him eventually.
