I feel like I'm getting a bit of burnout with MCU movies just by sheer frequency. It could also be that a majority of them end up being just fine, usually being a 6/7 out of 10 for me, with only a few movies really being higher (Avengers, Civil War, Guardians 1) or lower (Age of Ultron, Thor 2) than that. Yeah I'm too getting comic movie Burnout, And I'm not pinning the blame on MCU either Last year we had - Thor Ragnarock - Spider-man - Wonder Woman - Justice League - Guardians - Logan - Lego Batman - Valerian - Kingsman That's too many, And out of them only 3 were actually any good (Wonder Woman, Logan & Batman) Atomic Blonde was also based on a comic book. Though I don't feel like it, Valerian, or Kingsmen belong in the conversation, since they're not about superheroes. To me, though, a comic book movie can sorta be about anything, same way a novel adaptation doesn't necessarily belong to one genre. Admittedly, superheroes lend themselves to to the action/adventure/blockbuster genre, though you can do other stuff with them (like how Logan's a western and GOTG is a space opera). I know I'm one of the guys complaining about Marvel's general fast-food approach to filmmaking, but I still enjoy superheroes and superhero movies. I would be cool with a bit of a scaling back on it, though.

I preferred Natasha without a token love interest. I think the awful "Look how pitiful, she can't have children" angle was worse than her forced romance with Banner. Lord knows what Whedon would have done with Barbara.

I am too invested into the MCU to leave now honestly. While there are numerous instances where I felt they played it too safe with various outcomes, themes, and the inability to get dark and remain serious I have enjoyed every film so far. The only thing I am hoping for is that with Infinity War we see less humor, more emotion, darker, and characters actually dying and staying dead.
Regardless of what people say I still feel Winter Soldier, Civil War, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. are the best of the MCU at the moment. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 was by far the least safest and despite some forced humor it was a lot more emotional, darker, and intense than other Marvel outings.

I know people talk about the "Disney effect" with Marvel. But you know what's even more confusing? Disney in the past and present haven't been afraid of strong, dark, serious, and emotional themes that I know traumatized me as a child and even as an adult at times. What changed in their format?

I’m glad the internet wasn’t around in the 80s. (Not that I would’ve been discussing then, but just thank goodness.)

Despite the no internet Warner Bros. received a lot of hate mail regarding his casting. Without the internet fans definitely made their voices heard.

Any Rambo, Terminator, or Jean Claude Van Damme movies would've been destroyed and not highly regarded at all. I can definitely agree with you on that statement then.

If internet existed in the 80s: I'm so f***ing tired of Arnold movies, he can't even act and hardly speaks English Why the f*** is this shrimp Michael J Fox in Back to The Future Who the hell is going to watch a movie named who framed Roger Rabbit

Robocop would have been the Rick and Morty of today in which the "smart fans" acted like you didn't understand the message of the movie while others would have screamed about it being too violent Van Damme would have been ripped for being a "fake action star" or just another Arnold with flashy kicks Platoon and Full Metal Jacket would have probably gotten a lot of flack too

Disney in the past and present haven't been afraid of strong, dark, serious, and emotional themes that I know traumatized me as a child and even as an adult at times. What changed in their format? They have their darker/emotional moments but they're usually outshone by the spectacle. No one seems to focus on Iron Man's genuinely heartbreaking line "He killed my mom." in Civil War (and Winter Soldier's murder of the Starks is easily as grim as anything in Nolan's Bat-films) because they're still entranced by Spider-Man and Giant-Man battling it out at the airport. I think GotG 2 went heavy on the emotion, scored heavy with it, seemed to show a possible new direction...and was just dubbed "instantly forgettable" in the latest Honest Trailer. And given the loud Interwebz reaction of " The Force Awakens was the same as Star Wars but they changed everything in The Last Jedi and ruined everything forever!!!" to their other monster franchise, I'd imagine they're not going to tinker too much with Marvel while it's still raking in the money.

Considering people still come out in droves for transformers and adam sandler movies, the internet wouldnt have ruined movies in the 80s.

I still haven't seen a single MCU film I didn't absolutely love, so I have no purpose posting in this thread. Yeah, maybe I've mellowed out a lot in my older age, but I don't get as nitpicky and demanding with most of these movies as I would have gotten ten years ago. I've liked all the Marvel movies so far. Even the two "worst," IRON MAN 2 and THOR 2 (IMO), were at least entertaining.

I love the series, even the ones I like the least (of which there's only about three or four). The rest are good to truly wonderful to me.
Since it's not a situation I find myself in much, it's also really good when you enjoy a franchise and they're just hitting critical and financial home runs out of the park again and again and again. I've got brand trust in them to a degree that I really don't get much elsewhere.

At the risk of sounding hipster, I mostly stick to the Netflix stuff.
