Although the whole ‘to be on the card you have to earn it’ thing is a nonsense if they are not allowed to perform. Yeah, that's the whole issue for me. Like... he knows why they weren't there right? He does because he asked his guest who he was reviewing the show with their opinion on the girls not being allowed there and that he thinks they someday will be. Which makes his comment weirder.

I think JR comes from the old school of thought where if you didn't work, you didn't get paid. I never thought for a minute that they would get paid for a show they weren't on, I mean if they did, that's great of course.
As mentioned, they could probably do an all-women Network special to sort of make up for it.

Well good news on that front someday they will be is apparently when they go back.

One could argue that being sidelined for reasons that go directly against the entire ethos they say the Women's Division is now built on solely for the sake of money isn't "nothing", but, you know. Now now, there's no need to get snarky. I believe you knew what I meant, for not performing. Not for 'being sidelined'. Let them show the world what Saudi missed out on. I wasn't being snarky; I was making the point that to leave the women off the card because of things they claim they are staunchly working to end all to make money (AKA be hypocrites) is a slap in the face and to then turn around and say "hey, we hear you, but you have to EARN it" is basically another one. Don't sell out what you claim are your values and then try to say to the affected and insulted party that they can't get "money for nothing".

I feel bad for J.R
The loss of his wife and the old age made him bitter. I hope I never get this way. I dont think I've heard a positive thing from him in years. Lets just ignore his comments instead of giving him attention, since no one takes his side.

I understand his sentiment. The women didn't work the show, so they shouldn't be paid for it. I understand the logic of that specific point. This is a case of it's not what you say, but how you say it. JR said this in a really pig headed way. "Earn their spot"? They legally were not allowed in the country Jim. Paying the women, would actually be a nice gesture on WWE's part. They'd acknowledge that they didn't do something very fair to the women. JR sadly has this way of saying things in a manner that makes him look very bad. When he addressed the Bill DeMott controversy years back, he made it seem like he was condoning the abusive behavior. When rightly called out on it, he made really weak excuses for it. JR is the best ring announcer ever. His voice is what most wrestling fans today grew up hearing and what he did and the things he's endured during his life have been terrible and it's admirable that he's even able to keep getting up out of bed every day. But, he's also clearly a man who is used to a certain standard and way life works and he's not about to change. Time we come to realize that.

I didn’t listen to the clip, if JR said they didn’t earn to be on the show, he obviously has no idea what is going on and is misinformed on why they were not on the show. Just wanted to clarify because I said I agree with him. I just think a nice weekend off and their normal salary is plenty for not having to work that show.

Now now now JR, I don't know how that logic applies to this situation.
Those women deserve more just for being insulted.

Good to hear. And for anyone uneasy about the women getting paid for not working, it's easy enough to just spin it as "hey Saudi paid us a literal bank's worth of money, everyone gets a bonus".

They didn't appear and work because of factors that have absolutely nothing to do with their performances and willingness to work, they were told 'Not you' for no reason related to their ability to do their jobs so they absolutely deserve to get some form of compensation for the loss of a payday.

wasn't there houseshows that were cancelled so they could do GRR? Cause that's another reason the women should have been paid

Shut up, JR.
WWE got paid enough for the show that there's NOTHING wrong with giving the women a bonus check for all the work they've put in so far this year to date.
If Rey, Jericho, Hornswoggle, and freaking Hiroki Sumi can be cut checks, so damn well can Becky Lynch.

This isn’t hard to understand. This is a specific circumstance, where the women weren’t allowed to work a show, because they’re women. Now, WWE isn’t strictly obligated to pay them. But when you agree to hold a show, that flies in the face of this women’s movement you’ve been ballyhooing, it might be a good idea to pay the women as if they were on the show. Just as a show of good faith or a make good. If WWE paid the women, for this show, it’s a good thing. It’s that simple:

The more I hear from JR, the more convinced I am that the best things he ever did was create the good ol' JR character and accept abuse on WWE tv to generate sympathy and blind people to the fact he's kind of a jerk. Unfortunately for him, the past few years have peeled back the curtain to reveal the man behind.

The rumor that they got paid started from King's podcast where he said he hopes they are, then the IWC ran with it as fact as it tends to do. We don't know either way. Man this whole Saudi thing is a headache just trying to sort my opinions as a simple fan, I feel bad for the talent actually involved having to put up with this mess. No easy answers anywhere. Personally I'd put on a women's mega show on the network then throw them some of that Saudi paycheck. Maybe a Queen of the Ring tournament.
