The Hotel Transylvania movies are funnier and more charming than I ever would have expected. My kids are into them and we saw the third one last night. It was bad, especially compared to the first two, but there were still plenty of gags that cracked me up.

Step Brothers. I went to see it on a first date, with very little expectations. Holy cow I was dying laughing. I agree. I was burnt out on Will Ferrell & went into watching it with low expectations & thought it was hilarious.

Recently? Mother. Heard so much bad shit about it I wasn't expecting much but found myself liking it a lot. Also didn't have high expectations for Cloverfield Lane but liked it a lot. I tried mother, I'm fairly certain I lost IQ points. I wanted to enjoy it but what the hell was the point?. But I'm honestly I'm glad you enjoyed it.

The long kiss goodnight. Trailer made it out to look like something completely different then it actually was.

Recently, Thor Ragnarok. I thought the first two Thor movies were absolute garbage and went into Ragnarok expecting the same. Was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I think it's probably my pick for the most fun of the Marvel movies.

I mean taking into consideration the religious aspect..that's it. That's the point. I guess it could Make the film for you or make it irrelevant for you. Disregarding that, I just love Aronfskys direction. I loved the pacing, the narrative, and never found myself bored despite the layout being predictable. Also, I enjoyed the performances. Especially J-Law, and I've hated her shit for years now. And lastly, I just really don't like people. And found myself endeared to the film due to the way it portrays man. Which, apparently (after reading about it) is kind of what inspired Aronfsky to do it in the first place.

Really? That was worse than I expected, and I wasn't expecting much. I'd say recently the Ready Player One movie. It probably beats the book (although the book is...not great).

I went in with very low expectations, and I liked it for what it was. It doesn’t hold a candle to the original or it’s sequel, but it wasn’t a dumpster fire like the Total Recall remake was.

My wife, on the other hand, couldn’t believe I would drag her to something like that. It’s definitely a love it or hate it film.

I thought Spy with Melissa McCarthy looked terrible when I first saw the previews, but I saw it in the theater and loved it. It's one of my favorite movies.
Game Night was also fun.

Unfortunately I didn't catch it in the theater (gf and I rented it on redbox) would have loved to experience that but no-joke, during one scene, I forget which there's a bunch of WTF moments, my Gf just jolted her head at me with such an exasperated look of "WHY" and I absolutely lost my shit.

Some Guy Who Kills People - went in with no expectations, had more heart than expected. Kevin Corrigan was great in it. SUPER - really enjoyed this, thought Ellen Page in particularly was excellent in this Obvious Child - well written, also give me a Jenny Slate crush. The Way, Way Back - not sure what my expectations where but found it charming

Rampage was actually pretty damn good and I loved how it was based on such a simple arcade game.

Considering the amount of spit and bile lots of people online threw at the Ghostbusters movie before it was even released, I watched it and thought it was alright. I liked the female cast choice and I liked that most of the original cast made a cameo in it too.

Super Troopers 2.
I was fully expecting it to suck, just like other recent comedy sequels like Anchorman 2 and Zoolander 2, but I was pleasantly surprised.

I will say that I remember that I was willing to give this a chance, despite a lot, and I mean A LOT of the venom that people online threw at it. I actually saw this movie in theaters multiple times, though the first time was for free because I got a pass for an advance screening.

The 33. Being based on the Copiapó mining accident it was always likely to be a bit melodramatic, but I found myself more than adequately entertained.
