the new Ghostbusters movie was a lot of fun. not the best thing ever, and of course the original is still better, but the hate the movie got was more than a tad ridiculous. some people need to get a life.

This Means War
I heard a lot of how it was terrible, but I had a fun time. The only thing is I couldn't believe it was a contest, Tom Hardy was the superior choice in every way.

Paddington was way better than I expected. I thought it would be mediocre, like most similar family movies. But it was great. Well acted, cute, genuinely funny and heartwarming.
And the sequel was even better. So good I'd put it in the top 5 family movies.

Rampage was actually pretty damn good and I loved how it was based on such a simple arcade game. {Spoiler}I liked the fact that the government guy that everybody was expecting to be a villain, wasn't a villain. He was genuinely sorry about what was happening to George, helped The Rock and female scientist, saved the rat, and made sure the company would pay for what they did. Considering the amount of spit and bile lots of people online threw at the Ghostbusters movie before it was even released, I watched it and thought it was alright. I liked the female cast choice and I liked that most of the original cast made a cameo in it too. Yeah, it was meh. It wasn't good, it wasn't bad, it was meh. Honest Trailers put it best when they called it a middle of the road comedy.

The new Jumani was a pleasant surprise, as much as I dislike the same type of unfunny character Kevin Hart plays in everything - even he was hilarious in this

I had no expectations whatsoever for Thor Ragnarok. I hated the second Thor movie and I wasn’t interested in seeing the new one last fall. I watched it on Netflix recently and I had an absolute blast. So much fun and a completely different movie that I expected.
I also had zero expectations for Creed back in 2015. I was beyond let down from Rocky Balboa and I didn’t know how to feel about having a new character take over the franchise from Stallone. I left the movie theater that weekend emotionally drained and so impressed. One of my favorite films in the past 10 years.

I expected the first Ant-Man to kinda suck but was pleasantly surprised by how much fun it was.

The new Power Rangers (2017) movie. Wasn't perfect, but I've watched it several more times and I like it more each time.

Exactly. I thought the 1984 movie was funnier, but the 2016 one was entertaining. It's basically just a harmless summer comedy. Also showing love for Power Rangers 2017.

For me, hands down the answer is Kingsmen. I knew nothing about it outside of it was a spy movie with Sam Jackson as the villain so I went in expecting nothing. From start to finish, love every second of it. It was the most fun I've ever had at the movies.

Uncle Drew. Okay, I will admit that the trailer threw me off when I saw it, but then when I saw some TV spots for it, I decided I'd give it a go, but mainly if I had gone on a discount day. The movie was actually entertaining. It was clear that some of the NBA legends who were in it were having fun like Reggie Miller and Chris Webber. Even Lisa Leslie looked like she was enjoying herself in the role. However, the story was predictable on all fronts. But overall, it was harmless fun.
