Punk brand still has goodwill in wrestling for a good number of years unless he starts talking shit Novelty of Punk in UFC has worn off at least for Dana. I think after the 1st fight you had the excuse of a 2nd fight in which you can say maybe he learned but nah he really didn't
The second fight exposed him way more than the first one. At least with the first fight you could make the excuse that Punk made a rookie mistake then got beaten by a young untested fighter who could become an elite fighter. In the second fight the UFC fed him what would have been a can to every single other signed WW and heck even LW. Then the bum not only beat him, but beat him in decisive and embarrassing fashion. More importantly for the UFC though that second fight didn’t generate a lot of added buys to the PPV it was on. This should be the end of the CM Punk experiment, but he’s still on the roster. He really should never fight again and if the UFC wants to keep him in video games and stuff then his deal should be re-worked to a licensing agreement. His name is shit to MMA fans
He's probably had some of the most lopsided losses you can imagine and while dudes have struck out in UFC after looking bad, he just looks horrible
I don't even think if he started at 25 instead of late 30's he would be any good. It's just not in him, the best he should be doing is learning the craft as he has no business in anybody organization in a professional fight

The MMA skillset and the pro wrestling skillset are just different. One isn't necessarily "better" than the other, they're both physically intense and risky.
Punk was a fantastic pro wrestler, I'd argue his ability was underrated. He just wasn't that kind of natural athlete Lesnar was that allows him to cross between sports. Then there were the wrestling injuries and years of bumps, he was a dead punker walking.

If this doesn't work out, I want Renato Laranja on colour commentary.

Don’t they usually put people on commentary that have a basic understanding of MMA/BJJ? lol

If he is transitioning to a commentary role, would that mean he will potentially have to promote WWE next year(if he's around by then)? UFC is on FOX.

UFC is quite rich in fighters/analysts who would have much better insight than Punk about fights taking place. I think using him as a commentator for CFFC might be the best possible use of him. I wasn't interested in CFFC at all before this and all credit for the fact that I'm even considering giving it a watch goes to Punk.

Just come back to wrestling Punk.
I don’t even care where it is now. NJPW, ROH, the next ALL IN... just come home and stop this MMA “phase” for the sake of yourself and everyone watching.

Just noticed that Pro Wrestling Tees also doesn’t acknowledge CM Punk as a fighter. They have a category for MMA Fighters that Punk is not on. Also, on his store website they only refer to him as a former pro wrestler.
He’s still employed by the UFC by the way.

This was a mistake. A Dixie Carter level of mistake. This humiliation will chase him for his entire life. I hope the money was worth it CM.

CM Punk vs. the now 57-yo Brooklyn Brawler. Book it, Dana.
They gotta get him to win somehow to use his name value for promotional stuff.

He had all the sympathy and interest in the world from fans following the Colt podcast, but once the UFC stuff was mentioned it went over like a rancid fart in church.

Was thinking he may have got another fight when I saw this thread bumped. Wouldn’t surprise me one bit.

Supposedly he’s still training at his MMA gym and I think he has another fight or two on his contract. Dana may as well just trot him out there for one of these ESPN or ESPN+ cards and let him get his ass kicked again.
