They should've just cashed off right away and booked him against a top name. One "super" fight. At least it would have been exciting beatdown, instead of Mickey Mouse's and Michael Jackson's. That's how I saw it from the beginning... There's of course the thing many said that you could not book him against an established veteran, 'cause commissions and all. But if there ever was one carney who could have made it possible, it would have been Dana White. Just book it on a UFC show in Japan. They let Fedor and Mirko attempt to murder Yuji Nagata. I’m sure they’d be just as kind to Punk. Book Yuji Nagata vs Punk in a UFC in Tokyo and imagine the buy rate over there

Given the likelihood of Punk being defeated in any future UFC bouts, they might as well go for novelty fight and do Punk vs. Jason David Frank.

I think that had more to do with his opponent not wanting to kill him and he pretty much said that. Punk can't even properly defend himself, he is completely outmatched by any professional and even some amateur opponents.

Eh. I'm kinda done with taking the piss out of Punks MMA run.
He has my respect for stepping in there. If he was a bit younger starting out, maybe he could've been good.
He made some big money, got to live out a personal dream and look... Not winning an MMA Fight isn't the end of the world. Safe to say, most of us regular Joe's would fail miserably.

If there's anything that I learned from his fight with Mike Jackson, it's that nearly any ablebodied person would beat Punk in a fight.
Like, when it pretty noticeably looks like your opponent has been told to take it easy on you and you still manage to lose (let alone lose a 30-26 decision) despite the fact that said opponent refuses to stop taking it easy on you, you should not be fighting.
Like bless his heart (not really) for giving it another try but if you told me Punk was fighting a Roomba I would bet on the f***ing Roomba.

Eh at this point I don't even buy that. He's not a great natural athlete, seems to have no fighters instinct and hasn't shown the ability to even pick up the basis. He clearly loves it but honestly the highest level of competition he should aspire to is the intermediate tournament at a local NAGA

Punk made a lot of money for those embarrassing showings when other younger, more talented fighters are just looking for an opportunity. I mean a BJJ white belt should never be allowed to fight in the UFC unless they’re a freaky athlete with a legit wrestling background like Brock. Punk has beginner level BJJ, pre-beginner level Muay Thai despite training with one of if not the top striking coaches of all time, loads of injuries from wrestling all of those years, and he’s not a natural athlete in the slightest anyways. Punk made his money in wrestling with his voice, he should have never tried to make it in MMA with his athletics. So no, I don’t even give him the respect for going out there and trying.

If he'd maybe gone to a smaller MMA company and fought then I'd probably respect him more for it, sort of like how Batista did it. Him just getting straight onto a UFC PPV was pretty hypocritical of him, and then he embarrassed himself anyway.

I’d like to say Punk was only in it for the money, but as I’ve previously mentioned in posts way more detailed than this deserves before, even that doesn’t make sense. He really was just that naive. Respecting Punk for his MMA run is like respecting a random untrained dude who wants to be a lion tamer then goes out and gets his head bitten off.
