I think the "problem" here is that by this point a regular WWE even of this kind would already be sold out ticket-wise, so just over 2 thirds is seen as "weak".
It's already better than December 2 Dismember though, so Women's only PPV > WWECW only PPV I guess.

f*** off Meltz. Tell me the sales and the gate when the show is over. Don't add fuel to the 'women can't draw' fire that already exists. He doesn't say that I didn't say he did. Acknowledging the one women's show of the year having slow(ish) sales helps that narrative whether he does it deliberately or not.

It's almost as if women's wrestling isn't a draw...

I didn't say he did. Acknowledging the one women's show of the year having slow(ish) sales helps that narrative whether he does it deliberately or not. So a journalist should not acknowledge factual news because why exactly? If "that narrative" is reality then Meltzer should have no obligations to attempt to protect the feelings of people who don't want it to be true.

If you must involve the Bellas, throw them in a tag match with someone. And they have an opponent that people have been talking about them facing for a couple of years. Bellas vs Iconic Duo is right there. Since the Iconic Duo debut in WWE, people always said "We're going to get them vs Bellas." Just do that damn match.

I guess I don’t know what the ticket sales usually are for a B-PPV st this point so I’m not sure if they’re “weak”. I’ll take Dave’s word for it.
I can’t say I’m surprised. Most of WWE’s biggest stars right now are men. And their women who are stars have all fought each other dozens of times (minus Ronda of course). Telling the audience that most of the people they love from the show won’t be there isn’t a recipe for success. The fact that they have 7,000 already shows how supportive the crowd is of the concept of serious women’s wrestling. I’m betting that idea alone is selling the tickets. Cuz the card sure isn’t.

Meltzer needs to stop talking about women. Or, maybe this forum needs to quit whining about everything Meltzer says. If ticket sales are weak, then ticket sales are weak.

I can't think of too many Alexa Bliss matches that I've enjoyed. So I'm not really looking forward to seeing her match against Trish.
I just hope that rumored Ronda Rousey vs Nikki Bella match keeps the streak going. This is in regards to the number of Ronda Rousey matches that have pleasantly surprised me.
Becky vs Charlotte is a match that I'm looking forward to seeing at this PPV. I think that it could one of the best matches if not the best match on the card.
As for the rest of the card I think that Sasha and Bayley will probably be involved in a match for the women's tag team titles. Melina who recently retired is now somehow rumored to be facing Naomi. And I've heard that Nia Jax wants to face Beth Phoenix or she wants to be in a tag team match in which she teams up with Tamina to face Natalya and Beth Phoenix.

Wait, how do they know how many will probably go to scalpers? This is a practice I'm sick to death of

The metric for bad sales is Taboo Tuesday 2004. As long as you're well over that, I don't see the problem.

And FWIW:
If they had a card that looked like this...
Ronda/Asuka Kairi Sane/Sasha Becky/Charlotte Lita/Bayley Alexa/Nikki Cross Shayna/Bianca Belair +others
...it'd be way more interesting

So a journalist should not acknowledge factual news because why exactly? If "that narrative" is reality then Meltzer should have no obligations to attempt to protect the feelings of people who don't want it to be true. Because with other shows unless it's especially bad (which isn't the same as 'slower than expected') it doesn't get acknowledged unless it's part of a trend. For what it's worth - I don't expect you or anyone to agree with me. I have a degree in journalism that I don't use because of my fundamental issues with the industry's principles, and to me, yeah, right now, I would rather the women's show be given a chance than have slow ticket sales reported on, because I care more about equality than I do about journalistic integrity.

So... they've sold over 50% of the available tickets with 7 weeks before the show and the entire build still to come?
Dreadful...

I feel like if any PPV was that far beyond the normal pace of ticket sales, Meltzer would report on it. I don’t understand using this to perpetuate the “Meltzer vs women” narrative.

I don't think Meltzer has the power to make ticket sales not happen just by saying that sales are slower than the average PPV. They're not going to sell any faster if he doesn't say it. I doubt anybody who was planning on attending is going to change their mind just because "Meltzer Said".

They have handicapped themselves by not being able to promote the best match on the card until four days before...

Main issue is how WWE presenting it. All they're saying it's "The HISTORIC 1st All Women's WWE PPV!" and have 2 matches named. That's it. And in their logic they feel the fact that it's WWE event, it will sell itself.
