The story shouldn't have been shit to begin with. If anything the better story here would be that even turning heel doesn't work and Bryan would have to dig to to find something deeper within himself to win. He'd have to win for something other than his own personal desire. You're just describing Bryan being an underdog again which we've constantly seen since he came to the main roster. And let's be honest, he can only continue being the best underdog for so long before the underdog status doesn't make any sense. That's some Roman mess.

This might work if Kenny agreed to sign with them in time for WM, but I can't see any reason why he would.
But if he did, Kenny vs. Bryan might break Meltzer's brain for good.

He ran roughshod over the roster for a decade but it was always 'can Cena overcome the odds?'

It's like Cena before he started calling himself a veteran. Remember? He was always "defying the odds." Honestly Punk's comment on Cena there might have been the most important thing he said about his character their entire history.

Honestly, I don't get why people watch this company. Not to just parrot Alvarez, but the simple reality with WWE is that you'll next to never get a satisfying ending to anything, especially not if the ending you're expecting is a heroic one. Fans are expected to leave just about every show either upset, disappointed, swerved, basically anything that isn't "content and satisfied". Not even Wrestlemania accomplishes that, outside of WM 30. It's nice if this turn has at least been built up a little better than all the others, but it's pretty clear just based on WWE's track record that it isn't leading to something that will ultimately deliver a more satisfying payoff, because WWE doesn't do satisfying and isn't focused on pay offs. Doesn't mean it'll be awful television or won't produce good material (Bryan is too damn great at what he does not to make some gold out of whatever he's given), but that catharsis and satisfaction ain't likely showing up any time soon. Haha I stopped full on. MLW is the only company I watch anymore. But that's another conversation. WWE is certainly a lot more palatable when I only follow through results like a sports team. All the brubahaha lately has me wanting to watch again as these have been changes I like the sound of but I still don't wanna support them financially yet.

Yeah he shows up on social media once in a while but on tv? He's pretty much been a ghost since schooling Roman.

Daniel Bryan needed to be willing to do whatever it takes to win the big one. Even if it was something he wouldn't have previously considered. Miz was right. Miz is God. The Miz: An asshole, but at least you know he'll stick the knife in your back.

I agree with like every comment above on this page haha. This kind of turn shows WWE has learned to not to let a face overstay his welcome.
This is all ya need to fix the exact stuff we've been complaining about for over a decade.

Wouldn't be surprised if they brought up Bryan "sticking up" for his sister in law. You actually might have found Bryan's WM match hmm. Also it's funny. Just 5 years ago we were just saying how Cena's always going to be around. Cena completely beat that to the ground lol.

It doesn't sit well with me, mostly because I was actually interested in Styles vs. Lesnar again. It had a year of build behind it with both men's respective careers since.
Bryan wins. Now we get a dream match we wanted ages ago, but with 5 days of no build.
I don't even care Bryan cheated to win, it just feels so rushed and panicky. I wanted AJ to beat Punk's championship reign, but oh well.

If we get Best in the World, American Dragon Bryan, then I'll be happy.
If we get snivelling, chickenshit, generic heel #6 Bryan, I'll lose what little faith I had left in this company.

By now kind of settled into where I can see where they were setting it up and some of the arguments for doing it... But man this just absolutely kills all my interest in anything related to Bryan. I just plain don't want to watch him as a heel, it's just not the capacity I enjoy the character in.

I picked an awful night to say, "meh, it'll be a generic go-home show." I wish I watched this live with all of you guys.
WOW. AJ's legitimately historic title reign comes to an unexpected end, the company has possibly shifted from Charlotte to Becky as the big Rousey opponent (Wrestlemania?), and now we get Bryan/Lesnar this Sunday? What freakin' show!
My favorite Bryan run was always his heel run with AJ (the female one) in 2011/2012. I loved everything about their chemistry, so while she's obviously not going to be a factor, Bryan as a heel is a nice bold move I didn't expect to ever see again. It's sad to see such a good babyface go, but I'm on-board with any established talent who is willing to change things up.
Also, R.I.P. to AJ's (the male one) title reign. I know many soured on it, but I loved it. I'm glad he got to hold it for over a year at the very least. Now, hopefully we get that AJ/Bryan/Joe triple threat, and Joe wining the title by or at Wrestlemania.

The last time Bryan was heel, was got the amazing "We are leaving in a Prius!" promo.
100% on board for this. At least it's something, rather than Bryan smiling like a dork and wrestling The Miz for eternity.
