I liked the latest two. Some things changed enough to keep it interesting. As a fan for 30 years, I DON'T want to see rehash of stories I have already seen. I wasn't a fan of the the Turtles over all look, and voice actors. I didn't hate Fox, I quite liked Casey Jones that we got. The tone matched the OG cartoon and eventual tone of the comics. These got a lot of shit, some of it justified. But eh, overall they weren't as bad as people make them out to be.

I'm hoping they start exploring the more obscure parts of the Turtles mythos. I'd like to see characters like Renet, Pimiko or even Lord Dregg get some exposure on the big screen this time around.

The first one is a choppy mess beyond even Suicide Squad due to them having to edit and reshoots the living hell out of it when fans became justifiably angry at the leaked info. The Turtles were meant to be aliens. Shredder was meant to be Eric Sacks (an Americanized name for Oroku Saki). It all sucked. The second one, while much better, still had to follow the other one and couldn't completely break away from its stink. Giant Turtles who fight like the Hulk rather than, you know, ninjas is still way off base. They also took eternally broke roughneck Casey Jones and made him a pretty boy cop with a fancy car. It's cool if you don't want to see stories rehashed, most people don't. But, there is a difference between rehash and being faithful to the base characters and concept. It's why the 2012 cartoon is pretty well regarded while the new 2018 cartoon is virtually universally despised.

I'm cautious.
It's a reboot...made by Bay's company with Bay still as the producer of the new movie.
I'm not sure what the point of rebooting the franchise is when you're having the same people behind it ultimately either. Because while it's true a new director and writer will be on board, it'll be people Bay has a hand in picking again, and his finger prints were all over those first two movies even without being the director.
Feels a little like wanting to try something new by doing the same exact thing but expecting a different result.
Maybe they've learned from the train wreck of their initial go though I guess. Or, more likely, this is Sony with Spider-man again.

EP is usually for all intents and purposes an honorary credit, just above a "Thank you to..." in the credits. There's some EP credits where the person had no involvement at all in the movie but were given it as a courtesy. Bay is the proper producer (for now) of this rebooted TMNT movie, which means he will be involved in this one unlike Bumblebee. Why I'm feeling cautious about it.

Bay was a producer on Bumblebee, not EP.

But the one prior on fox for me hits definitive Turtles. And that ending crossover.

Yeah, the 2003 Fox series was incredible before they switched up the animation and went with the "Fast Forward" gimmick. I understand the 2012 animation not being everyone's cup of tea. I'm pretty hit or miss on it. But the storytelling was really good.

So a reboot in the sense that the Mark Wahlberg TF movies were a reboot.

Does anyone remember the name of the TMNT episode where Donatello goes back in time to an apocalyptic New York? That was one of my favorite episodes and was painfully emotional as well. I think if they do a reboot that would be one TMNT live action film I'd love to see on the big screen.

This would be the 4th reboot of TMNT as a movie franchise. Kind of amazing when you think about it really.
