I say watch it, I laughed through the majority of it. I will say, do NOT, under any circumstances whatsoever, bring anyone who might get overly shocked easily to see it. People that have seen it will know the scene I'm referring to.

It was pretty good. But I wouldn't buy it since the novelty of liking it wears off once people quote it to death ala: Monty Python and the Holy Grail Thanks nerds Hi-Five!

Don't they have HBO?" I'm sure the "wedding" needed lots of lawyers, but the one that still gets me is the, er, "fight scene". Some things I don't need to see close-ups of.

It's more like "foreign guy said something horribly bigoted, and OH MY GOD that American just AGREED with him! HOLY f***!" mixed with a little bit of the typical "backwards foreigner completely misunderstands American culture" comedy. It's excruciatingly funny. Almost as funny as it is shocking.

A very long and not-so-funny "candid camera"...
Much more annoying than shocking IMO. Over the top is the key word.
I still think the whole "social criticism" value of the movie has been vastly exaggerated, as most of the times the people are polite (even if it's only façade) and quite forgiving toward the weird and loud Foreigner.
I was hugely disappointed by a movie I was led to believe it was the Holy Grail of comedy, and it turned out like the umpteenth product of the Hype Machine.
Watch the movie and decide yourself if you like it or not...

It's more like "foreign guy said something horribly bigoted, and OH MY GOD that American just AGREED with him! HOLY wax!" mixed with a little bit of the typical "backwards foreigner completely misunderstands American culture" comedy. It's excruciatingly funny. Almost as funny as it is shocking. That's what got me on some of it, the almost casual responses to some of the most outlandish statements. When Borat walked into the gun store and said "I want the best gun for killing Jews" and the guy behind the counter, without blinking, said "Well, you're going to want to go with a 9mm or a .45 for that". Also the scene that got the lawsuit with the college kids, I'm sorry, but the one dumbass just blurts out the remark about slavery out of nowhere. Sorry, but if you're an idiot, and get caught, it's your fault, not the guy with the camera, or at least that's my take.

Not something I ever want to see. Just not my brand of comedy I guess. Still, people rave about it.

I love the movie. The Jew bashing doesn't bother me seeing as Cohen is Jewish but the crucifixition stuff at the end annoyed me.

I watched it last night and I have to say it is highly overrated... It had it's moments but it wasn't the laugh the whole movie deal like I thought I would see. I guess it's because some of the bigger scenes seemed set up and that is my logic as to why they did not get arrested for some of the things they did.
