I never saw him as much more than the really over enhancement guy... the perfect 10 gimmick he was doing is kinda slotted into that role... but if he's let go hope he makes the most if it. I think the issue is that in modern WWE, there isn't even a space for enhancement acts. People who would be perfect as a lowercard babyface who come out, do their fun thing, and lose to the big bad heel are just not getting booked on TV period. He hasn't had a televised match since September. At a point it's not even a matter anymore of wanting a push, it's a matter of being in wrestling and just sitting around not wrestling. Yeah I hadn't realized he was off for that long I don't really keep up to much with the wwe as a whole anymore. But... I do agree they haven't been doing the face pop enhancement/lower card thing correctly in years.

It’s just smart. He’s not gonna be able to stand out amongst the crop of talent ATM. Smart move to leave.

Good. Even though he's far from a top guy, he deserves better than doing absolutely nothing. Seems like we're going to see more and more of this - guys asking for their release in order to get better treatment, or simply because they've had enough and want to go and do something else.

This one was inevitable
Whether he goes to AEW or just Indies in general he'll be fine, he's a solid hand. Feel like he'd make a good killing in AEW in the midcard.
With the NXT Callups I think the writing is gonna be on the wall for a few of these talents. Won't be shocked if No Way Jose is next.

They now know there are better options and AEW despite what some may think is a ground floor looking to buy and spend. Right now and the next year or so are gonna be the ideal time to either have WWE put up or get out while you're still in your wrestling prime. A lot of contracts coming up in April still, worth keeping an eye on.

I’m a fan. I hope he shows up in AEW and doesn’t vanish from wrestling.

As said, he's probably never going to be a main eventer, but he could be a midcard or tag team staple. And honestly, it could be a blessing in disguise for the WWE if a bunch of guys did ask for their release, freeing up roster spots for the NXT guys that they see money in.

Fun fact: Tye Dillinger was part of one of the most fun moments I've ever seen live.
So I was at an OVW show the weekend that WWE announced they were dropping them, and Tye (back when he was Shawn Spears) wrestled Colt Cabana. Tye was a heel at the time, and since he's Canadian, the crowd started a "USA! USA!" chant. Colt, being the joker he is, took that as his cue to spend the rest of the match pretending that he was Hacksaw Jim Duggan.

Even if AEW wasn't a thing, I suspect we'd be getting a slew of people asking for releases at this point because there's only so many years a talent can wrestle and spending their peak only working house shows while new arrivals hop ahead of them in line for a push is a demoralising waste. Yes the money is good, but they'll make less long term if they're devalued by being nothing more than filler.

For his sake I hope he gets it, he deserves to be able to wrestle regularly.
He may never be the main eventer, but he's a good solid hand that deserves more, and due to the bloated roster he just got lost in the shuffle.

Yeah he definitely seems like a solid midcard guy for AEW, maybe toss him into the occasional multimen world title match(or at least number one contender matches) to add numbers.

I really like Tye so disappointed I'm not likely to get to watch him any more (although I'd hardly watched him in WWE since he's been doing sod all) but this is right for him and the company hasn't really lost a great deal either.

He's been there something ridiculous like fifteen years, right?
He got a gimmick that got over finally and he got a huge pop from 50,000 fans at the Rumble a couple years back, he's kind of lucky he was not used rather than misused if he does manage to leave.

Yeah, I think all but the most myopic of us saw this coming a mile off.
I genuinely wish him the best in the future endeavours.

He was under contract from ‘06 to ‘09, and then again from September 2013 until whenever he gets released/his deal expires.
