I really hope things don't come down to "Okada vs. Tanahashi pt. 4,412" as the final. Give it to Ibushi, SANADA, hell, even Juice or Ospreay would be great.

I’ll stick my neck and say Ibushi beats Naito, Ospreay beats Okada, setting up a Ibushi-Ospreay final.
White vs Ibushi at MSG, with a big Okada-Tanahashi tag match, or vs match to set up #1 contender.

On one hand there's something poetic about two of the greatest in the history of the company, fighting to determine who will main event the most historic event in New Japan History. On the other hand they've done a half a million matches with each other and it's gotten to the point in their last several matches where they're just doing nothing but callbacks, and they forget to build on anything. Frankly it's more what I think is going to happen than what I want to happen.

That Tanahashi bracket is absurdly loaded. You've got him, Naito, Ibushi, and Sabre all in the same region. I'll go with Ibushi out of that one though, along with Ishii or Juice in that region, Okada, and not sure on the other. Sanada maybe.

Other than that I could see Okada getting betrayed by Bullet Club Mole Billy Ospreay in his quarter to keep him out of the finals and keep him away from Knife Pervert until he beats him (maybe one of the dome days in this scenario). Ibushi makes the most sense out of the super-stacked ZSJ block. Which is wild compared to the Chase Owens and Taichi Memorial Block for Old Timers and also Juice and Ishii.

I think Ishii should be considered more as the winner. He's the perfect opponent to use and help put over Jay White while not having Okada, Tanahashi, Ibushi or Naito to do the job.

I would say the main event of MSG should be seen as a make-good for the VISA issues the New Beginning shows suffered and feature the very top level New Japan talent (and Knife Pervert), but doesn't the American audience (we) love strong style workers and Ishii in particular. I can't speak for the general feeling of American New Japan fans, as I have my own biases.

f*** Michael Elgin.
Other than that, this is a pretty good field. Sucks for Nicholls, though. Dude's going to be murdered.

Ishii vs White doesn’t feel right for MSG. The show is a big deal and needs to deliver. In the main event, White is the risk, so they need a safe, big name against him, which narrows the field to the big 3 and Ibushi. I mean don’t get me wrong, Ishii is the f***ing man and the match would be killer. But White/Ishii isn’t a msg marquee main event to me,

If you believe Meltzer the idea is that the original main was Omega/Okada 5 so in this case it'll be Okada vs. White instead, unless the plan has totally been changed due to Omega leaving.
It's funny that this incarnation of the Bullet Club now has the IWGP, tag, and Jr. heavyweight titles but they just seem so lacking in heat. As far as the CHAOS mole storyline goes, is that even still a thing?

Or maybe I’m mixing up angles After Gedo joined with White and the Bullet Club, White said that he had a mole in CHAOS still and that he would be the downfall of Okada. But there were 0 mentions of it lately, hence why many speculate it was either Trent or Chuckie.

I dig going to a March Madness format for a tournament in March.
A few things I'll predict will happen:
-Ospreay will beat Fale and Archer to further his "I beat big guys now" march ahead of facing Jeff Cobb at MSG. -Only one of EVIL or SANADA will win in round one, and I can't guess which one. -However, I'm leaning toward EVIL since I think they'll have Ibushi go over at least two LIJ members to set up Ibushi vs. Naito at MSG. -Yano will screw with Davey Boy Jr. again, but eventually get his lunch eaten by Suzuki. -Juice Robinson will beat Taichi to reach the semifinals. -I'll still guess Okada comes out on top, but I have my doubts.

Finlay will now miss the tournament due to his shoulder injury. No replacement named yet.
With Yujiro also out with injury, I feel like it would have to be Yoshida or another YL given that spot. There's no one else available.
