Sucks for Finlay. Hope he recovers soon
Gotta be Yoshida who fills it

Meltz kinda insinuating NJPW being interested in starting a women’s promotion. Keep in mind Meltzer is clueless more than usual when it comes to women wrestling in Japan. He’s vague as usual and it could easily be a kickboxing thing lol
Pass from me, especially if they poached from current promotions. Would rather people tune into the great scene there is now.

Pass from me, especially if they poached from current promotions. Honestly, for one reason or another, women's wrestling in general tends to be a blind spot for him. I recall him getting a number of things wrong about AJ Lee, for instance. I don't know if he just has fewer sources who can/will feed him information, if it's him having less knowledge on the topic to make educated guesses with, or whatever reason, but it's noticeably spottier than his usual projections.

And NJPW already had somewhat of a hand in women's wrestling. During Inoki's years no less! Either New Japan was one of the sponsors for Major Girls Fight A to Z (aka: the promotion in which Kana/Asuka debuted) or were thinking about using some wrestlers that left the place in 2003 as the base for their own joshi promotion, depending on which side of the rumors at the time you fall.
As for the concerns of New Japan doing a raid on existing promotions, I wouldn't be that sure. The STARDOM model of "have about 4 or 5 actual wrestlers and then fill the cards with freelancers/people from other companies (aka what everyone does) while trainees and low key idols in training will get better as time goes on to become actual wrestlers (aka what STARDOM did new/better then everyone else)" seems to be the model to go for any new joshi promotion nowadays, everything else is all up to marketing.

BUSHIROAD having a separate Joshi promotion that can do joint tours with NJPW seems like the ideal solution to me.

Have the joshi promotion be itself with, at most, a token match in New Japan cards on potential markets for it. A touring joshi promotion nowadays would be a money-losing recipe, no matter how good it is. But, having access to New Japan, much like Tokyo Joshi Pro has with DDT, can be beneficial in getting its name out there through co-promotion, and more wrestling on my New Japan World account wouldn't hurt.

Just submitted my bracket, with Ibushi beating Okada in the finals.

My final 4 ended up being Okada vs Juice and Goto vs Ibushi
I got Goto defeating Okada in the finals
Came close to picking Juice to upset Okada but think he falls short
The obvious matchup could be Ibushi vs Okada with either guy winning as Ibushi as the contract and therefore now a legit contender for the IWGP title and Okada has a bone to pick with Jay White but I think they hold off on their rematch for now

Just looking at the bracket, Juice/Okada is the easiest semi-final match to call. That's a no brainer.

In terms of that top bracket, I wouldn't sleep on Ishii but in my bracket I got him getting upset by Nagata and then Taichi beating Nagata. Juice needs a strong showing as champ and going to the semi finals and losing to Okada is a good showing for him and potentially sets up a future title match between them
Ospreay vs Okada in the Final 8 seems like a lock as well as I got Ospreay getting wins over Fale and Archer to continue to sell him beating big guys now. Tho I expect shenanigans considering his opponents

I can kinda see Taichi beating Juice to set up a US title match, but we also thought that's where G1 losses Juice had was going so who knows lol.

Yea, that's more so my reason why I think he rebounds for the cup because they did him dirty during the G1 and then his cold title run just ended to give CODY a reign
Getting 2 W's and a match against Okada could help his year and I can still see them setting up a match between him and Taichi at some point since Taichi seems to be on the world tour of title shots lol

I went with Okada/Juice/Ibushi/Suzuki as my final four, and like I said before I'll go with Okada taking it, but I'm nowhere near 100% confident of that.

My only reason for not going Okada is the fact I don't think they want to burn another L for him against Jay White since it is now established that he can't beat White
However, he is the most logical choice next to Ibushi who has a solid chance of beating White and can take the L if anything
My outside choice being Goto in the fact for a while he was always a fixture for the finals and won a few which lead to his choker reputation tho it's been a few years since Goto got a shot at the title and would like to see him there for a matchup

White just posted that he'll likely be a double-champion at the Bullet Club Block Party (day after MSG).
The match with Ospreay is non-title, and I'm not sure about any indie dates coming up, so... Naito?

I picked Juice vs Okada, but I think there is a chance Ishii or Taichi could upset Juice to set up a US title shot. I just hope we don't get a Taichi/Okada semi-final. For the rest of the bracket, I went the safe route with Ibushi/Okada in the finals and Ibushi winning. My final four was Juice, Okada, Ibushi and SANADA. Usually the New Japan cup is where they bring someone different or surprising into a title shot, but with the match being at MSG, I would think they are giving it to a top star. I think Okada could win the tournament, but I feel like it's too soon and I think we wait until Dominion(at the earliest) for Okada to get his belt back.

Ryusuke Taguchi has been announced as Finlay's replacement in the New Japan Cup I like this, actually. It's not like he'll win it, and they were just going to get Yoshida or another YL otherwise. Taguchi/Tenzan can be a fun match.
