Marty Jannetty's take. Thinks it was a work and laughs at how easy it is to take down Bret these days... Well, there goes that third induction for Michaels... That man needs jes DDP. That man needs some serious Jake Roberts levels of DDP intervention.

Yeah, he seems to be the "I'm still young and partying WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" kind of guy at the moment. If he wasn't a wrestler, he'd be in a club with a Hawaiian shirt and roofies.

They're not even gonna hire Marty back just to fire him again.

There's a part of me that feels bad for Marty. He genuinely could have had an impressive career, he went over Shawn for the IC title when they broke up and while he wasn't being pushed to the moon he was on the route to a great career then the drugs caught up with him. Every time it seemed like he had another chance to make it right again he'd screw it up. Now he's gone from a guy who might have had a hall of fame career to a punchline. It's kinda crazy when you consider how many of his contemporaries engaged in the same party life and still flourished to some degree. At the same time, it's been 30 years and if he still doesn't want help now, that's on him.

Sorry for bringing the thread up from semi-dead as I just watched the whole thing for the first time. I'm so sad to see in what condition Bret is in. From the very first word he spoke I couldn't get around that he sounds like a grandpa and looks like he is 75 not 60. His health is deteriorating real fast. Super sad to see and hear him like that.

just thought of something. With all the people who jumped into the ring. I never saw any of Bret's kids. Were they not there?

Some people are just f***ing assholes and/or idiots, and given everything that has come out about this dude, he definitely seems to fall under that category. He deserved to have his f***ing teeth kicked in.
Also, just a serious question: Why are people so quick to defend people like this with the "mental illness" defense without knowing anything about him, yet can't forgive Chris Benoit despite KNOWING that his brain was complete mush when he committed his awful deeds and had no idea what he was doing?

Who's defending him? There's pages and pages saying "yeah, the wrestlers did the right thing but he MIGHT have mental illness and if he does he'll need help".

Jannetty is right. It's actually a work setting up a big PPV match between retired 61 year old Bret Hart and Deranged Hall of Fame Arsehole.

More than anything else, I just can't understand the thought processes of people who jump the rail (or whatever barrier) at events and think it's going to go anything but poorly for them. There has only ever been one instance where a fan jump got a pass from me. This being the HBK/special olympian incident.

That could have ended really badly. Thank god asshole Shawn wasn't working that night. I think the fan who jumped in during the RVD and Eddie ladder match was f***ing insane. Wasn't Eddie on the ladder when he ran in? I know they cut away on the dvd, but you see Eddie get a shot or two in.

There has only ever been one instance where a fan jump got a pass from me. This being the HBK/special olympian incident. I vaguely remember that, but what were the details again? There are two "fans invading the ring" moments that - while I will not condone them happening - I think helped make a moment in hindsight. One was the fan congratulating Piper at WM3 (Kudos to Piper for dealing with the situation the way he did), and other was...this: (Starts just past the 3 minute mark)
