This dislike towards her seems to be disproportionate to anything she’s done on tv. Did she do something distasteful in real life to sour people on her before she even showed up? Nattie is a always a snoozefest anyway so I’m not surprised the match wasn’t a million mile an hour classic.

She gets a lot of hate in other places on the internet because of real life stuff (allegations of homophobia and people accusing her of dressing her daughter up in blackface, even though it was supposed to be a werewolf). Here I'd say her performance in the Rumble is what soured people, with the rumor of them wanting her to feud with Asuka coming out after not helping.

The company is promoting women solely on their look or nepotism as well in Nias case and I cant see any justifiable counterargument to that. The Horsewomen got the call on the back of the Give Divas a Chance thing because they had too much buzz so it was the perfect scenario to pretend that they were advocates for womens wrestling and not just looking to milk a new stream of revenue in fans who were now willing to take women seriously. It might go for the look thing, but people are under some industrial strength delusion if they think Nia wouldn't be used even if she wasn't related to the Rock. She's honestly no worse than Chyna, and leagues better than Nicole Bass. A woman who is like 6 inches or more taller than almost every woman under their employ is going to get pushed, that's just a reality of wrestling. She wasn't ready at her point of call up. She's unquestionably improved since but outside of a minimal number of opponents (strangely great chemistry with Ronda IMO) she's hardly good. And comparing her to two women from an era of womens wrestling that the company themselves dont really want to talk about that's not a compliment. This is nothing to do with the injuries she has caused over the last year or so but she should have stayed in NXT for longer.

I'll grant she could have, and likely should have, stayed in NXT longer, but the comparisons I'm making aren't really intended as a compliment, so much as to illustrate that female wrestlers in that size are few and far between. Like who else would even be comparable size? Tamina was considered big when she debuted, and Nia dwarfs her. So I think her size has more to do with WWE's interest in her than her name.

Her wrestling in the Royal Rumble was seriously awful. Looked like someone who should be working those Largo shows. Don’t you wish that juju on my Largo shows, I will continue to enjoy my Adam Cole main events thank you very much.

Just because Vince can appreciate other types of women does not mean he is going to stop pushing someone because they fit within his tall blonde fetish.

The moonsault was clearly botched and that's not great but I'd be more worried that her match got little reaction from the crowd that had been hot all night. The announcers popped big for the punch and the crowd went mild. She definitely needed a squash match or two to at least get her moves over before being put in a spot like this.

Between not having any time to get her moves recognised and being actively nicknamed The Sassy Southern Belle she is more or less doomed unless things changed.

To me this is just a feud based around promo and segments given the match will be in the mid-card anyways at the next PPV. As long as the non-wrestling parts are good I don't really mind a poor 7-minute match on PPV.
Lacy won't be the first women to get a PPV match for a title when she is not in the top tier of in-ring performers.

I like the gimmick of a woman celebrating classical southern femininity while still being able to straight punch someone out. I just don’t know if she’s talented enough to do it

we should applaud her for the fact that for the first time in her career Lacey successfully made the walk all the way to the ring and actually got inside for the first time in free television history!

Thats inexcusable. A real professional would never screw up like that. Damn, her innards must have been completely rearranged. She's probably peeing out of her ear at this point.

She green as grass still yet they are pushing her to the moon. She taking the WWE womans "revolution" back a few years with her being pushed over everyone else.

I'm still interested to see what comes of her. But, last night alone.
1. Promo saying she banged her way to the top. 2. Gets utterly destroyed throughout a match by Nattie of all people. 3. Throws a Reese Witherspoon in Sweet Home Alabama level punch of meh. 4. Causes Nattie to say "Oh f***" after botching a (tbf cool) moonsault.
They may need to rework the game plan a little.

We can't really be surprised, Vince's M.O. is to take the "workhorses" of NXT and use them as warm bodies to fill 15 minutes of TV time, and give the star making pushes to the ones that have unmemorable 5 minute cup of coffee stints in NXT but to him at least look the part.

I saw a solid promo and a decent if unspectacular match. Considering that she was fast tracked with very little seasoning I'm impressed. We're seeing growing pains that should've been worked out in NXT, absolutely, and she probably shouldn't be in a title program with Becky already, but if this is how she's representing herself while still green as can be I'm very optimistic that she's going to be very good very soon. It's obvious to me what they see in her, and it's a lot more than "is blonde".

I hate the gimmick completely but she's a heel so that doesn't necessarily matter, but she's green as goat shit and they had her first match be an iron woman Rumble run. What the f*** was that about?
She needed a lot more time in NXT. Let's see how good a champ The Man is trying to drag this sandbag to a good match, eh?

This is who Vince wants. He likes her gimmick, he likes her look, thats all that matters. I found it forced, and of course leave it to Vince to job out a Hart Family member in Montreal to his chosen golden girl, but this is 100% in line with Raw booking for 15 years now. If he really wanted to rub it in, Lacey in lines with her character would master some of Bettie Page's, um, submissions and put one on Nattie. Ring the bell, ring the etc. etc. and all that. /Now I would totally be on board with her wrestling like Bettie, now that I mention it... //This is why I like/am patient with Lacey, like the whole pinup thing...

Her legs are straight when she lands. There is no problem here.

I'm not quite ready to give up on her. I think it'd be more prudent to give her a chance to find herself here. She definitely got Nia'd though, wasn't ready to leave NXT yet at all.
