Not the worst example in the world but their would be some shit about this design today Well, in the first season you also had the black guy as the Black Ranger and the Asian-American as the Yellow Ranger. And while Jason David Frank isn't Native American, Tommy canonically is and ended up being Red Ranger.

Which also led to the three white guys on the team(before Tommy learned of his heritage) as the Red, White, and Blue Rangers.

Me: Hey, he’s black just like his suit I wonder if that means he has some kind of related special power. My Brother: No, he’s just black.

I question whether a movie like American Beauty would be as well-received today.

Just as I mentioned lots of Family Guy in 2000s, we can probably say lots of early South Park would qualify here.
Some MST3K riffs wouldn't hold up now to some people. There were gay jokes and implications, for instance.
Godzilla cartoon saying a monster "was playing dominoes...with the World Trade Center!" Rewatched the '90s Fantastic Four...the WTC was in peril quite a few times on that show. Spider-Man has an episode that references the 1993 attack.

I recently bought a "Best of David Spade on SNL" DVD. One of the sketches is basically a parody of teen dramas, with the "joke" being that EVERYONE is gay (Spade's character is in a relationship with Mike Myers's character). Even Spade himself of the commentary track kind of buries it subtly. While on the subject of 90s SNL, there was the "Relapse guy" sketch with Chris Farley, which would be in poor taste even if Farley had no drug problems and was still alive.

And they never did either of those pairings again until Operation Overdrive, where the Black Ranger is played by a black british man... and the character is a thief. Whoops.

Can't Hardly Wait uses a gay slur, other then that found it an enjoyable teen movie Hey, you know what they say about coming of age comedies and trolley cars, right? There's plenty of 'em in the sea.

Going back on some of the Disney Afternoon shows, there are quite a few Asian stereotypes. Two to bring up are the Rescue Rangers ep "Puffed Rangers" (Awful stereotypical Asian broken English in the original version. Later redubbed) and the TaleSpin ep "Last Horizons" (Pearl Harbor satire) Just started the five-part pilot to RR. The cops essentially cheering about (as it turns out) the chance to get to kill a dog. Yes it was meant as a comedic line (they groan when the chief adds "...alive!"), but yeah...

Took me some thinking, but The Man Show definitely wouldn't fly today, and thank god for that. I just revisited some clips and what a garbage fire of a show.

It wouldn't fly today, but it was hilarious. It’s hilarious to watch back these days cause of Kimmel. Yeah, Adam Corolla was the big star at the time because of Loveline. Kimmel was the host of Win Ben Stein’s Money and that was it. Speaking of which, what about Loveline? I remember loving the show for what they tackled, but Adam’s humor was a bit rough at times. I wonder if a show like Loveline could work today.

Kimmel's come a long-ass way from when he was in The Man Show.

I listened to LL since sixth grade. Then a few years ago, my gf and I went to randomly listen to it and they announced it’d be the last airing before stopping. Blew my mind. It’s back I think in some form..?
