I have little interest in James Bond as a franchise, and have only seen a handful of the movies. But Richard Madden embodied the cold-eyed, damaged and manipulative nature that I feel the character should have, in The Bodyguard (BBC series, not the Whitney Houston movie).

Am I crazy for seeing massive potential in Chiwetel Ejiofor as Bond?

Hiddleston, Fassbender, Hardy etc...are all excellent choices too.

Henry Golding has been rumoured a little and I think he could be an incredible Bond.

Add a twist where it turns out M is actually an agent of HYDRA.

Am I crazy for seeing massive potential in Chiwetel Ejiofor as Bond? Chiwetel Ejiofor would be my first pick for a new 007. He's got the right mix of smoothness and badass factor. After him would be Tom Hardy. Hiddleston would be third. Elba would make an ideal Bond mastermind villain.

Pierce Brosnan plays an old bond struggling with ageing please. Don't care if it bombs. Do that for one film. Then cast a young dude. Well that's what I'd do anyway.

If it was five years ago, I’d say Richard Armitage.

If there must be a James Bond, a point about which I remain unconvinced, then I'd like to see Hayley Atwell take up the role.

If it was five years ago, I’d say Richard Armitage. I put Ejiofor in that bracket too. Bond 26 won't even start production before 2022 and could be as far away as 2024. He'll be 44-46 then. Even Hiddleston, who I think would be great as a Dalton-esque Bond, is getting a little long in the tooth for it. He'll be 41-43 by then. Then again, Craig is 51 now and took over the role at 38, so maybe I'm just being a little ageist. I just always see Bond as a permanent 35-40.

Brosnan was forty in Goldeneye and looked fine, even in the last one, DAD, maybe he started looking his age but he looked very good for 48. Easily could have done one more.

It is worth noting that several of those guys were approached about the role years earlier but either could not (Moore and Brosnan) due to contractual obligations or simply passed on it due to feeling he was too young for the role (Dalton). Moore would have been 40-41 had he been available, Brosnan would have been 31, and Dalton was between 22-25 when he passed on the role the first time (he says 24-25, but EON says he was offered the role for OHMSS, which came out when he was 22). Dalton also passed on the role when he was 33 because he did not like the direction the films had taken (Moonraker was the most recent film at the time). The point is that the producers never minded the notion of Bond being younger, so why should we mind it?

I mean it makes sense within the story as Bond is retired but unless the film ends with the death of the new 007 (Or this all having been a scheme by her to get James out of retirement by obtaining his code name to get revenge on him for having a fling with her mum or something) then I’m gonna be a little ticked tbh. There is potential to do something interesting in this situation without pandering As for my choice, Elba.....I don’t care his age, the dude doesn’t look it and would knock it out the part Second choice......Hiddleston

Honestly don’t get where the pandering stuff comes from, to put it really simply.
None of us knew the casting process or who else auditioned so unless, like, you have that stuff on hand, it just feels like a hollow argument.
Also, hey, makes sense to me. The films aren’t called James Bond, they’re 007 so you could put anyone in there and it’d suit.
