Barry Windham in the WWF in the late 80s. I remember being excited about him showing up. Then he was just sort of there and gone.
ECW guys outside of ECW. Raven did pretty well in WCW. I feel like he could have gotten over in WWE, but they didn't really get him. Plus they attached him to Taz. Who was a monster in ECW, until they threw him in with guys like Albert. He looked like a midget to them. Really the only ones that really got over were The Dudleys and RVD.
Mike Awesome in WCW. He came in hot from his ECW stint. He was big and agile. Then they gave him the Fat Chick Thriller and 70s Guy gimmicks. That just killed him.

Ric Flair's initial WWF tenure produced some awesome things, like the Rumble he won, but some of it also felt like a major mismatch. I think it'd have helped if he had a Horsemen-like setup in order to threaten Hogan physically in the manner he was more accustomed to, and because WWF didn't really do a lot of that style of stable, mostly having manager-centric ones, so it'd stand out. As it is, he seemed to be a hard sell for a lot of WWF diehards at the time, and the Hogan/Flair feud wasn't impressing in house show sells. Shame, because some of it was really a lot of fun. Flair also never wore his custom made suits or Rolex watches and flaunted his wealth and success, which was a huge part of his character. He walked around looking like a grandpa in a robe.

Paul Roma in WCW/The Horseman. Earthquake in mid 90s WWF (he’d only been gone two years but seemed out of place). Hogan in 1993 WWF. Most long term WWF guys in mid/late 90s WCW. I'd always argue that Roma would've fit if the Horsemen were heels.

He was still wearing his gear from his days teaming with Jim Powers his time there.
As much as people decry Mongo, he looked like a Horseman and carried himself with the swagger and confidence that they had.

Joey Janela in AEW. Pretty loved all his matches outside AEW. But in AEW he has been so sloppy I am afraid he is about to hurt someone. Not sure what changed but he went from a wrestler that I would watch a show cause he was on it to now if he is in a match I fast forward through it.

He had to be G Rated in The WWF. The intimate set in JCP lent itself to Flair's "come up to the hotel and party with us" persona that was really integral to his gimmick. The WWF put wrestlers in the spotlight, the audience in the dark, and that interaction was minimized. Like someone said, what was missing were the suits and the jewelry, like the rings and Rolex watches. He didn't have to have the "Space Mountain" talk and stuff if they wanted to maintain his character. Instead, he cut promos in the robes.

Oh wow, 7 pages and no one mentioned Mr. Perfect in 2002 WWF. He returned to the company for the Royal Rumble(even made it to the final four), then stayed a couple of months afterwards. It felt so weird seeing him wrestle in a post-Attitude Era setting. He felt like he was from a completely different era/company.
