Meltzer reported last week that the current plan is briefcase holder vs. IWGP Champ (presumably Ibushi vs. Okada) on Day 1 and then the winner vs. the IC Champion (presumably Naito) on Day 2. What he didn’t make clear is if it would be belt vs. belt on Day 2 or just the IC Title on the line. Also, that only really works from a storyline perspective if we’re getting Ibushi vs. Naito. If it's just the IC title on the line, that'd be really goddamn weird, but I suppose it's possible. Not exactly high stakes, though.

Yea, it would almost be no point to the do the match if only the IC title is on the line I would assume it depends though. Ibushi is crazy enough to put his IWGP title on the line the day after winning it, Okada would say f*** that noise, give me yours I do think both title will be on the line though. If White wins, him and Gedo can easily goad him into a match and still say White has a winning record over Okada plus he gave him a rare loss at WK the previous year. Meanwhile, Okada can say he's tired of Naito talking of destiny and he will finally kill his dreams once and for all I need that Okada vs Naito match. I think the crowd would be fully behind Naito and Okada being his general cocky self and more heelish would make for a great main event

Dream versus a title belt Okada hasn't had yet, so there's also that.

They obviously still see money in it because they have not had them match up since Naito lost almost 2 years ago Ibushi/Naito has faced off way too many times over the last year, White/Okada has also faced off a lot over the last year, so it just seems to be leaning Naito/Okada but you can't rule out the factor of Gedo wanting to give White the world or fully making Ibushi a made man

Ibushi losing to Okada would make him be the ultimate goober after he made his proclamation and look even worst than Goto in 2017

Also it is important to remember that Goto had numerous big opportunities to win and failed each time, which is how he got labeled a goober. This is only Ibushi’s 2nd shot at the title since coming back.

Yea, add on the fact on he is always generally protected You basically have to murder Ibushi to beat him and a win over him is always very creidble

Going to be a busy few days for them Not even counting, if you're in the area, the dozens of small to medium indie shows that go on from various companies. It'll be a mad weekend.

Instead of Korakuen, NYD is being held at the Ota City Gymnasium where they do the Anniversary shows at.

To no real surprise, both Ibushi and Okada defeated their challengers
Will be interesting to see if Archer makes it to WK with the US title

Is it fair to say that this is the last match anybody expected to see in 2020?
I don't expect a match of the year candidate, but I think it's going to be a lot of fun to see a collection of some of the greatest to ever do it, in one ring.
