What?? I didn't even know they worked there then. DOA worked in WWE until at least Summer 98 because I remember their boring feud with LOD when Ellering turned heel to side with DOA. Don’t think they lasted much longer after that. DOA surprisingly stuck around until May 1999, even had an alliance of sorts with Two Much (with each of them sometimes riding on the back of their motorcycles)

Surprised DOA weren’t considered for the Ministry around that time.

Bad Man was an awesome heel theme, too bad it was wasted on Rikishi.

Man, a New Day vs. Imperium feud would be so badass. Kofi and his friends with the bright colors, gospel theme, Booty-O’s and unicorn horns, and high spirited fun vs. WALTER and company in black, serious business, a dramatic classical theme, not here to make those stupid fans happy.

I completely forgot the Harris twins were in DOA. I didn't think it was a good idea having other bald guys with black leather vests when Austin was in the same company

How far would Chris Harris have gotten in WWE if he didn't become Braden Walker? I'm thinking he would have been a solid midcarder at the very least. And if The Wildcat is a success in the 'E, do Samoa Joe, Bobby Roode and AJ Styles join earlier? And does AJ have that 2 year run in Japan? The better question would been what if Christ Harris showed up in shape. The name wasn't the problem. The fact he got fat and lazy in the ring was the issue.

Chris Harris and Braden Walker were like night and day. It was like the former had turned into a totally different guy (as Vinny explained when he buried him on F4W), which is what I was implying in the post.
But yeah, the name change wouldn't have seemed as bad if Harris looked like he did in TNA. Even the "knock knock" promo might have worked if he had actually knocked Estrada's brains out in a quick squash instead of a boring heatless match.

So, why was she called Chyna? I've wondered this for quite some time. I thought it was an ironic name, a play on "fine china" (porcelain) which is delicate and breakable while Chyna was tough and solid.

While most of Braden Walker falls on the man himself, I do remember him griping that his call up to ECW was a very sudden decision, and on top of it, most of his signature moves were taken by other guys on the roster, so he couldn't even wrestle like he was used to. If you ever wondered why he did a Fisherman's Suplex as his finish instead of his signature Catatonic slam, it's because Umaga was using it.

I think it was probably on him for being roided as shit in TNA and getting clean for WWE, and his size being the result of that.

Yeah, I started watching in March 1999 and DOA were still there. There was a DOA v Hardy Boys (pre-push) v Too Much v Public Enemy match on Shotgun which ended in a no contest when everyone beat up Public Enemy instead.
There was a Black Wednesday type mass sacking in late April 1999, before most of us had day to day internet to notice such big events. iirc the sackings included Golga, Kurgann, DOA, Dan "The Beast" Severn, Marc Mero, Brakkus, Bart Gunn, Dr Death and a few others. Possibly some of the Los Boricuas and Kai En Tai too, although iirc Dick Togo and Giant Silva were under contract till much later in the year!

In my opinion, at one singular point in time Ahmed Johnson was a half step away from being the biggest and most over act in the WWE. It's amazing in retrospect how far and how fast he fell off. Probably one of the biggest declines in popularity I've seen in wresting that didn't involve legal troubles.

Even near the end of Harris' TNA run, I noticed that he was starting to let himself go during the Black Reign feud, and then he looked even worse when he debuted on WWE TV.
