So how's Smokey Mountain Wrestling doing these days? Is it still doing business the way it's supposed to?

I think most any wrestlers or promoters would like Cornette's knowledge and experience, there's value in it, but the price is too high. He's a walking PR problem, he never escaped what the mid-90s did to him and his anger problems, culminating in literal attempted murder, and he really doesn't have any real incentive to let the anger go and move on because so much of it is now his business model.
It'd be like asking Iron Sheik to be normal. Even if he could, it's his job now to be a weirdo. That's his livelihood.

Even if the anger and stuff is an act, that has to be exhausting.

Here’s the thing. It’s like the industry and the majority of the talents DON’T WANT TO KNOW about its history or how it’s supposed to be done. That’s the frustrating part and that fuels his hatred for his targets in the business. Yeh but mostly his targets are doing great for thenselves, that is the kick. They KNOW about history and how it is supposed to be done.He just doesn't like HOW they done it. Jim Cornette is the arrogant one that think they need to be yelled about how it is done(When all his recents ventures as a booker results in failure,he has no high ground) More often than not, I hear the current generation of wrestlers preface what they say about their opinion of Cornette in 2019 by saying they USED TO have respect for him, due to his experience and knowledge of the business, but that they have COMPLETELY LOST respect for him because of the way he conducts himself, and how he does nothing but launch personal attacks at their friends. It's not that they don't want to know the history from a vet, it's that he's not the type of person they want to even deal with.

Even if he "doesn't mean it" there's only so many times he can say a guy you respect/work with should be killed by firing squad for matches he did before you want to hear nothing more of the guy. A world where it's just like, okay to scream violent crazy death shit at people for 'doing wrestling wrong' is a horrific world and I think resenting wrestlers for wanting no part of it is baffling. Nobody should want a world where a man can scream obscenities around and be a raging shithead and everyone who doesn't want a piece of that is the one in the wrong.

Has anyone ever read the book, the Giver. It was about this one guy who had all the memories of the past in his head, and in order to understand them, you had to spend time with The Giver. Well, I look at Jim like that; he has the records and the memories that people can't understand these days, and his wisdom is beyond value in a world where WWE has homogenized everything and writes the story. However, Jim is also an angry, bitter prick; who says the vilest shit because he knows he has a group of people by the shorthairs because he is the keeper of those memories in a world where more and more people yearn to learn them. So, that is why I think Jim evokes such strong memories, because he could be so much more; he can be a teacher, a giver of memories, a way to teach today about yesterday, and keep yesterday alive; and instead of that, he's an ass. If Jim Cornette tries to touch my back in his private library I'm calling the cops

Cornette is probably like that one uncle of the wrestling industry. You love him because he's family and sometimes has real wisdom to impart, but then he says really embarrassing stuff at the Thanksgiving table that also makes you never want to see him again.
Granted, there's a lot of those uncles in the pro wrestling industry's old guard.

Once again, I consider myself a Jim Cornette fan in that I could listen to him talk about the old days all day long. But his rants just go way too far now

Was reading the Twitter banter, and of course Jelly Janela has to get his two cents in. Someone told him "to go jump off a ladder you irrelevant bucket of suck." I chuckled. More relevant these days than Cornette. Joey Who?

Before this thread gets locked, I just want to add one thing...
For those who've been saying their coffee is too bitter, next time you make a pot of coffee add a couple of grains of kosher salt to the coffee grounds, it'll draw out the bitter taste and leave a smoother cup. Just a dash, I use two or three of the rock-salt bits that you grind down.
