There are hateful fans. That is dumb too. It's not really relevant or related though. "At least Jim hated people he's met.." Sure I guess, but is anyone arguing the point?

I won't defend everything Jim Cornette says but at least his opinions and animosities are usually based on real-life people he's actually interacted with in a business he's been in for 30-odd years. He puts his opinion forcefully, maybe sometimes offensively. But it does seem odd seeing that criticised by of all groups of people wrestling fans, many of whom seem to think someone not putting someone over 20 years ago is reason enough to hate someone for the rest of our lives. The hatred and animosity I see expressed by wrestling fans towards performers, bookers and promoters over the years that they've never so much as ever made eye contact with let alone met whilst at the same time gasping in horror at someone articulating their opinions on people they've actually met and worked with for a considerable period of time....I dunno it seems hypocritical. There are a lot of hateful fans out there. When you see the same people popping up over and over to continually bury people in every thread that mentions them it tells me a lot more about them, not the person they’re hating on. I don’t care for Vince Russo. The threads on him were so bad at one time there was a ban on them. I met him once and he was very nice and respectful to me. I’m not a fan of his voice so I don’t listen to his podcast. I feel unqualified to speak on him anyway so I don’t. I think the worst thing I’ve said about him is you know he’s probably jealous that Heyman and Bischoff got the Raw and Smackdown gigs. I just don’t pay him any attention. I don’t like him but I don’t hate him either. I don’t care for golf so I don’t watch it. Problem solved. Jim Cornette plays a character and goes for laughs. Mostly to amuse himself at this point since he’s basically retired. People do love him for his routines. Some people lose their minds over him saying stuff like women should stay in the kitchen. If you actually listened to his podcast you’d hear him say he was doing the Andy Kaufman bit. His co-host tells him that some people take that seriously. Cornette cracks up and says let them. Those people make him laugh the hardest of all. It gives Cornette so much power over them. To control their emotions with such ease. The wrestling business had a lot of that power once. It’s sad when you see warnings being given out because people can’t stop referring to Dixie Carter as a dumb bitch. All that hatred really exposes a lot of people on the internet. Cornette wishing death on people for clips and gifs he sees on twitter doesn't even reach that qualification, I don't think he knows G-Raver or Jordynne Grace, and he regularly gets into fights with people in replies. But past that the whole 'this is an act' and 'power over them' shit is just bogus. People who say lots of heinous shit and act like complete f***ing assholes to others "because it's funny" are called trolls, nobody wants them around, and their behavior is usually way more about getting away with bullshit than it is about any sort of 'working'. And if it is somehow performance art then hey cool he loosed a horde of sexist weirdos onto someone just for his own profile--and said lots of sexist stuff he 'doesn't mean' but got to pretend he did for people on the internet under the cover of his act. What great behavior. There is a really great twitter thread where an artist gets into this prolonged mess with people because of his claim sharks were smooth to the touch. He stands his ground and escalates with it constantly, finding new ways to engage with people not in on the joke. But the joke isn't telling women to stay in the kitchen it's just to post a Santana song and stick a piece of paper to a book. It's a joke entirely built in some kind of Kaufman-esque 'commit to the bit and never look back' but he's not using it to court sexists, get them praising him, and send them screaming into the mentions of someone who isn't in on the joke and who doesn't want to deal with that shit. The "even if it's a joke, it's a f***ing horrible one" thing has been brought up in this thread. Like yay congratulations he has the power to convince people he may or may not be a shitty person, and the money he's drawing for it is from a bunch of guys who aren't even angry about it or want to see him lose, they see him as some kind of yoga for edgy dudes. So he's a heel getting cheered, great, that solves and expresses nothing. This thread's got a lot of really terrible bad takes and jumping through whataboutism as much as possible to absolve Saint Cornette but good god is 'but people on the internet say bad things too' so weak I had to fight the urge to astrally project for this whole post.

This just makes me believe that Twitter has done more to ruin wrestling than just about anything else. Back in the day we'd hear about guys fighting it out in the back over an issue. Now they're subtweeting each other and whining online. Which, to be fair, not every wrestler exposes what pussies they are on social media. God bless Minoru Suzuki and his wholesome Instagram posts.

Now we've reached "Boomers whining about millennials on Facebook" parodies for Cornette deflection and whataboutism.

I believe the problem would be getting worked up about people you don't know saying mean things on Twitter.

Again ,still if you are just pretending do be an asshole and attack people in character online. You are still being an asshole that attacks people. You are hurting people and spreading hate so you will get a few bucks. It is not like MJF where he is selling his feud and careers online, neither is he attacking people most tome he tries to put people over even in character. And it is so over the top you know it aint serious. You don’t think Jim Cornette is going over the top with his rants? It’s obvious to me. Just because Cornette isn’t on television doesn’t mean he’s going to turn his character off. He’s been a heel manager for decades. Now he’s got two podcasts. I can’t convince anyone that pro wrestling is real but I wouldn’t even have to try to convince people that Jim Cornette is real. Even if I say he’s not there are so many that think he is. That’s wild.
