Can someone explain the appeal. I'm not getting it. I don't follow Indies so AEW is my first exposure to almost all of these guys. I didn't go back and watch Mean Mark Callous matches to understand Undertaker or Stunning Steve matches to get Stone Cold. So for as over as Orange Cassidy seems to be, Aew hasn't done anything to help me get it, can you?

I only know him from what I’ve seen in AEW but I figure that he’s just so cool to the point of insouciance.

Best I can tell you is to check out his match with David Starr on youtube. That should give you a pretty good understanding of what he’s about. I think once AEW finally gives him a singles match and really lets him shine, more people will get it.

He pretty much is a lazy cool cat that only gets serious after a certain point of abuse and then shows how good of an athlete he is.
But the main selling point is how chill and uncaring OC is.

He's an incredible wrestler that hides it in a catchy comedy gimmick.

He's the ultimate cool customer, detached, taken to its extremes, but it works because he CAN wrestle to back it up. Like the best ridiculous gimmicks, it works the best in the hands of someone genuinely skilled to back it all up.

I am asking this question in kayfabe.
If I am wrestling OC, since he only fights back when under duress, if I just politely asked him lay down so I could pin him, and then we could both just get out of there, would his character go for it? Path of least resistance and all that...
Or if I simply go for an early roll up, will he bother to kick out etc?

The way I view his matches is more like mind games. He does actually care and he does want to win, but he doesn’t want you to think he does, at least at first.

He still wants to win, and he is good enough that if you try and pin him with a roll-up he will counter it into a pin attempt of his own. His finish is a complicated pinning hold for a reason.

He is basically a chilled and cool guy that stands there with sunglasses and does suicide dives and stuff while keeping his hands in his pockets.
It’s awesome.

You know those guys that won't bother trying until the last second it is needed?Think like that for the kick outs.He doesn't want to put effort, but he will try not to lose.

Dude does flying offense with his hands in his pockets. Don't worry about getting it, just watch and be impressed.

I liked him in the Gentlemen’s Club YouTube series that Chuck Taylor did but watching him in action, I just don’t get it.

I have a feeling that Kevin Nash loves the gimmick and wishes he had thought of it first.

I have a feeling that Kevin Nash loves the gimmick and wishes he had thought of it first. Someone on twitter suggested they have a match a few months back. Nash replied with “apathy on a pole match?” which got an “I guess” from OC.

Gentleman Jervis tried to rock him to sleep with a blanket and a lullaby. It nearly worked.
...Nearly.

He and Matt Riddle would be buddies if they ever met.
