Jack White (and all his projects,) Tool, Radiohead, Pink Floyd are pretentious as hell.
It’s been 25 years stop comparing Foo Fighters to Nirvana. The Foos are putting out their 10th album in 25 years. Grohl was Nirvana’s third drummer and only in the band like 3 years and two studio albums. He wasn’t even allowed to do much he just kept beat for Kurt’s average rock melodies or whiny ballads. Nirvana was a catchy marketable band at the right place the right time. People still act him making his own music was the biggest sin of the 90s. That being said the Foo Fighters are one of the best bands of all time.

MC Hammer was a better rapper than most of the gangsta rappers who dethroned him in the 90s.

Red Hot Chili Peppers are the most overrated band of all time. Even when they're not trying to be ballady, Anthony Keidis' twangy voice makes me cringe.
Stone Temple Pilots just want to make me rip the radio out of my car.

Jay-Z is a pretty run-of-the-mill mainstream rapper.
Nas ran out of topics to cover years old. So did KRS-One. Yet both are still here and preaching more than ever.

Dave Brockie of Gwar was an absolutely amazing vocalist for music in general. He's just as talented as any other rock vocalist you could name, but people will never admit it because he was in a band with rubber costumes and gross humor. Huh, probably because Gwar is tied with Megadeth as my boyfriend's favourite band, but I never would have keyed that as an unpopular opinion. I wasn't into a lot of the aforementioned gross humor, but my goodness, I loved his vocals. Lol, to the point I get annoyed sometimes when my boyfriend sings their songs, because he sings them "wrong". I think Closer is such a terrible song to the point it completely prevents me from even bothering to listen to anything else by NIN. Black Hole Sun is also a garbage song. So droning and boring. Chris Cornell is on my Mt. Rushmore of rock and that song is horrendous Similarly, I hate the grunge genre, and I hate that song, but Cornell's voice in general was wonderful.

The Fat Boys deserved to be remembered as rap pioneers up there with Run DMC and Grandmaster Flash.

The Juggalo scene is fire right now. The originators like ICP and Twiztid aren't doing anything noteworthy musically, but the new school guys like Ouija Macc, Lyte, Young Wicked, Lex The Hex Master, A.X.E., Big Hoodoo, etc. are tearing it up. Also, The Jokerr's "Juggalo Song" that just came out is a banger.

MC Hammer was a better rapper than most of the gangsta rappers who dethroned him in the 90s. Every couple of years I will pull out my CD of "Please Hammer Don't Hurt 'Em" and give int another listen and I keep being surprised at just how much I like the album and how good he was.

It's not that people have said he's a bad vocalist, it's the fact that if I were to say he's just as good as Freddy Mercury or Bowie, you bet some people would chime in. That would ruffle a few feathers. I dunno, I just think Dave had an amazing vocal range.

The following bands are not good IMO. I'll never use the term overrated because I'd like to abolish that word from the English language.
Led Zeppelin The Eagles Triumph Janis Joplin
Also I'll add Stitches is one of the most interesting and talented hip hop / rap artists in the past 20 years.

I'm currently doing a chronological listen through the Beatles' 70s work, and it is astounding to me how little of it is actually any good.
McCartney was decent with one stone-cold-classic, Ram is excellent, then Wings are just unmitigated garbage almost down to the last song. I've got to Band on the Run so far which is evidently 'the good one' so f*** knows what I have left to hear.
Plastic Ono Band is amazing. Imagine is a confused clusterf*** of mostly good songs but makes no kind of sense as a coherent whole. Sometime in New York City is mostly BAD, Mind Games is mostly lame.
All Things Must Pass is for my money the single best Beatles solo album I've heard so far. So far the others don't leave much impression on me.
And Ringo is... Ringo. He's got a couple of decent tunes. As before, you only need about 1/10th as much Ringo for every 3/10ths you get of everybody else.
But yeah I've listened to like 20 Beatle solo records so far and I think I'd recommend four, maybe five of them???

I aĺwayd felt that while Lennon and McCartney may have been the creative nexus of the band, as a solo artist they're both vastly outstripped by George Harrison.

The sales and critical response mostly back that up. Paul got big numbers and shitty reviews, John got good reviews and decent numbers, Harrison got immediate widespread critical acclaim and blockbuster success. But I'm also biased because George was the guitar nerd Beatle, he's my guy. He's why I play guitar!

God, Harrison’s “You” is such a simple but brilliant composition. It’s one of those songs that just exudes happy.

On the topic of Beatles stuff, I don't think "When We Was Fab" is that good. As a standalone song, it's mediocre. But it was nice that he got to do a tribute song to his old Beatle mates & even got Ringo to appear in the music video. (Although seriously George, you couldn't get Paul to be in the video too? )

Speaking of unpopular music opinions and Beatles solo records. ...I'm listening to Yoko's stuff from the 60s and 70s and I am actually finding a lot I like.
