My thoughts
I really liked.. gave it ***1/2 star rating in the movie thread.
Will agree it did get a bit messy and convoluted. I think may reason that Kevin Feige being brought in for future Star Wars projects was make future films fit together better like the MCU films. Having different writers and directors for each film may have been good idea on paper, but but probably ended up hurting the trilogy as a whole. Even I don’t think any of the three films are bad.
Anyway it was a satisfying conclusion and I’m looking forward to future Star Wars projects.
Still got an episode of The Mandalorian coming next week and I think the new Clone Wars series is coming in February.
How I would rank the trilogy
1. The Last Jedi 2. The Force Awakens 3. Rise of the Skywalker

The biggest cheer for me was for none other than frigging WEDGE ANTILLES! After all these years, he's still remembered. I see people bitching about more exposition about Palpatine surviving. They want everything explained. Why does it need to be explained how he survived? He was the most powerful Sith, and likely had a plan for surviving Vader's betrayal. Why can't it just be that he has been controlling every aspect of this since the beginning? Why do you think you have these plot points and are given just enough to be hooked? It's for future films. I wouldn't say future films, likely just stuff like Disney+, Marvel books, novels and maybe some future spin-off cartoon. Usual consumer-bait. People wanted closure and logistical answers, they're on a journey, they're entitled to learn things along the way, they don't want to go shopping for elaboration

I mean, I think there's a pretty big divide between, "I want everything explained to me," and, "I want some insight as to how the f*** this character who has been dead for 40 years is suddenly alive now."

Palpatine saying "I have died before" also cheapens his fate at the end of the movie. Big whoop, Mar-Rey Sue blew him up, he'll be back. Delayed, not defeated.

Yeah how can a guy who once had command of an army made entirely of clones be alive long after he died?... it’s a real noodle scratcher. My biggest complaint... Where is Adrian Edmondson’s character? His character Captain Peavey did not get killed off in “The Last Jedi”.. was hoping for scene where he went on a full Vyvyan from The Young Ones like outburst Awe shame.

Yeah how can guy who once had command of an army made entirely of clones be alive long after he died? Even then though that has a bunch of questions around it. When exactly did he arrange for this? Why wait so long and let the situation get so far away from him before stepping in? If cloning himself was always a viable option and he's so powerful why does he not just have an unstoppable army of himself running around blasting lightning at everything?

I’m guessing they were trying to perfect it. Cloning a human might have been simple enough. But cloning a Sith Lord with his powers would have probably need to be perfect. I noticed there was a tank of Snokes which I presume were failed experiments.

I liked it...hell, I've liked every Star Wars movie except for Solo...but it definitely had more of a "Let's wrap this up!" vibe then an epic finale.
Random thoughts:
-Dominic Monaghan needed a paycheck, I guess? Very random appearance there. -I thought Rose would have a bigger role after the hell her actress went through last time; I guess either she was like "Nah, I'm done with this" or JJ Abrams just wasn't a Rose fan. -Always great to see Billy Dee. He seemed to be the original cast member that was enjoying himself the most through these films. -In the "Ships exploding over worlds you know" shot, did we not get any prequel planets? Show some Gungans celebrating, you cowards! - Probably my biggest "Huh." was that they had not one, but two VERY similar beats to the final battle of Endgame: the static transmission/"Hey, we got a big army now too!" and "I am inevit...The Sith!"/"And I...am...Iron Jedi!". Heard a couple groans at the second one.

Just got back. The film was ok. But I will say better than the last two. The retconning of tlj was very abrupt, but since I hated that movie I was ok with it. I mean, tlj in itself shit all over the events of tfa, so tit for tat.

I was very satisfied with the majority of what I saw. I didn't want Kylo to be redeemed in the end and the kiss at the end made me groan. Besides that, I was happy with what I saw.

Rose’s diminished role (like to the extreme degree it was in RoS) just seems like Disney/Lucasfilm gave in to the people harassing her actress, even if that was likely not the intent.

Dude was one of a bunch clones made by Palpatine. That seems to be it. *looks at Snoke, then Ian McDiarmid and back to Snoke* Um....something went a bit wrong with that batch. In one of the comics he tells Ben Solo that Luke Skywalker gave him the damage. Either it is a lie to make him sympathetic to Ben Solo, or the clones having the same damage was just not thought about by whoever's job continuity is. Also, Snoke has a stupid as shit hat that looks like bangs

Here's my small oddball thoughts:
Chewie and C3PO's acting really stood out. Chewie really had some emotional scenes from the grief of Leia's death to his pride in the medal (seriously, watch him in the finale he's showing everybody that medal as if it's his life's work). His protectiveness of the Falcon and the sheer joy of seeing Lando again was top notch.
C3PO nailed everything with his oddball mix of humor, bad timing and droid quirks.
It really felt like 1.5 to 2 movies shoved into one, but it kinda needed it to salvage a coherent story. The movie tried to tell too much too fast too furious.
The action, sound, visuals and score were all great.
Lando is still the smoothest mother @$#%$$@%@ in the galaxy.
I was fairly annoyed at how small and numerous planet destroying tech now is. Power Creep is real.
Leia's saber was pretty cool.
I'm pretty sure I saw Han get "I know"ed, I loved that
Wedge was a nice touch.
I wonder if Finn was trying to tell Rey NOT that he loved her, but that he could feel her in the Force. There's something odd about Finn with his feelings and premonitions. He jokes about the force and stuff throughout this trilogy, but then it's almost like he subconsciously uses it. I'm not saying he's a future Jedi. But he appears to be force sensitive.

John Boyega straight up burying Kelly Marie Tran on the press tour makes me doubt it wasn't entirely accidental. What did he do? Speaking to Variety he said: That's a somewhat insensitive way to phrase it, but doubly so considering Tran what wrote about being driven off social media: He's since backtracked and said he didn't mean to be critical of her and just worded it badly, but he's had a chip on his shoulder the entire press tour, judging from the amount of shade he's been throwing.

And I dug some of the new Star Wars comics that came out since Disney, too.
