I sincerely hope that Cody or someone will pull Brandi aside and tell her that just crapping on your product is a massive no-no.
If not, she could become an even more obnoxious version of Stephanie McMahon. Killing other people's credibility simply because she's untouchable.
I can't stand Brandi Rhodes at the best of times. I'm sure she's a very nice person and she seems to have Cody's back all the way. That's awesome. However, I'm not sure what redeeming quality she has as a talent other than as a ring announcer.

On another note, Dr. Luther crawling out of the ring got a nice laugh out of me.
I could name you a thousand wrestlers I would expect to end up in AEW before I got to Dr. Luther.

Glad I was not the only one thinking about Oddities the whole time watching this wreck.

Look at MJF: he shit talks eveyrone. But he still puts then over For example Cutter: When he talked about him and D&D he put over Cutler has heart and is a strong athlete...but he is a big loser nerd compared to MJF.And even then when he just craps over, you know he is being an arrogant jackass over the way he acts, not because he truly believes it.You gotta walk the line

I believe Luther was brought in with the goal of putting over Sonny Kiss, management specially Dustin has said how he wanted to help Sonny to become a big star, feuding with Luther might help giving Sonny an edge imo. He didn't get much of a focus, but Sonny was out there at ringside when the faces made the save. I think you've hit the nail on the head. Ok, THIS is something I'm down with, because Sonny has needed something to sink his teeth into ever since the Avalon stuff ended. I'd be super curious to see how Sonny would handle a deathmatch vet.

So, been thinking a bit, and...while Brandi's angle has been weak for a while and thus overshadows the other issues, there's a huge, glaring issue to me. I have no freaking idea how Luther fits here. Like, Excalibur tried to give us some quick background on him - enough that I can at least say, "OK, he's that kind of wrestler," even if I am not excited about him. The core issue is that I have no idea what Luther's existence means to this angle. The faces were already up against Awesome Kong and Melanie Cruise, for crying out loud - a big deathmatch guy backing those two up does not change the dynamic, only exaggerates it. Butcher and Blade had a more awkward debut, but Luther's debut was just so crushingly pointless because he added absolutely nothing but another big body to be chased off. I believe Luther was brought in with the goal of putting over Sonny Kiss, management specially Dustin has said how he wanted to help Sonny to become a big star, feuding with Luther might help giving Sonny an edge imo. 'We need to get Sonny over...' 'How about a feud with Luther?' 'Who?' 'Dr. Luther.' 'Who?' 'You know, the Japanese Deathmatch Legend Luther.' 'What are you talking about?' 'It'll work, trust me, he'll just need to shake off 15 years of ring rust and book the time off of work.'

Honestly, i don't know if anyone's ever had bigger "go away heat" with me than Brandi. I really just think she's that awful. The cluster around the match wasn't great, clusters happen in wrestling but god damn, i just don't ever find a single line Brandi says believable. Never have i felt someone play wrestler like i do her.
Really sucks because i don't think she's going to be moving aside..

I know Jericho and Lance Storm have both said they consider Luther a genius when it comes to wrestling so I could see this being to help Sonny and also transition him into an agent or creative role

So yeah, apparently the segment gained 17,000 viewers..... People like car crashes I guess? Same thing I said other threads. Those nielsen segment by segment can be bad indicators.People tune in and outfor all reasons Dymamite had minimal gain e loses the whole show.It just means people had interest in the show

Like are there that many people who go call their friends with Nielsen boxes and tell them to tune in or something? Losing viewers over the time I can see as a bad thing, but I don't see how anyone is going to know if a good segment is on. If anything, credit here would go to people being interested in seeing Statlander and Riho since they were the advertised part.

I'm...pretty sure all of that's in character?
Like, we can agree or disagree if that character is good (It's not, to me anyway) but, well, that's pretty obvious.

Yea, it is a dangerous game she is playing with that because now she opens herself up to ridicule if any segment she is in bombs and everyone is going to tag her. This is the stuff you don't need and pointing out her segment gained viewers is not even in character for her so it makes no sense

Has her character ever mentioned ratings tho before? She is some dark character, why should ratings matter? It is supposed to be in character but in a shooty way that is sorta dumb that can come back to bite her

And her comments on commentary were practically shooty without it being called a shoot on TV. So I'd buy her character being like "Of course we got higher ratings, we're the Nightmare Collective!" Like, again, I'm not saying it's good but from watching her on AEW, this all seems to link up. If you're asking me if it links up with the aesthetic? Absolutely not.

It's not consistent as anything, but it's what's on TV. Ehhh dots can be connected but that doesn't really make it good as you said. Ratings and being the best of the women division doesn't really correlate. That's a Jericho "you're welcome" kind of thing that her character hasn't been It is unnecessary I believe because as I said it opens the door for ridicule. It is a little too shooty in direction that really isn't needed because from now on people will be up her ass and now she has to think up a response in character to justify a potential fall in ratings segment she may be in

That's a Jericho "you're welcome" kind of thing that her character hasn't been It's one of the stranger things about The Nightmare Collective in general. Like, Brandi with Kong, no problem it suits them and the way they were teasing it then made it happen? Makes sense. The haircutting wasn't really explained (even though strangely, Excaliber wearing a mask was which was nice in an unintended way), and Brandi doesn't come off as a dark figure as much as she's....a charismatic mean girl, I guess? As others said, it could work but it feels like there's too many pieces not put together and they're from different puzzles. I'm not even saying "just make her the GM of the women's division" but even that would be more grounded then the mish mash of stuff right now.

As I said before the simpler the better for Brandi The character itself is not explained. It is not like Brandi suffered a head injury in canon that can help you explain why she turned into this character, she just did. They didn't have to reinvent the wheel and I understand they don't want to hit the same old tropes but Brandi as GM and authoritative figure who abuses her power is practically perfect for her. Hell, copy a little of what Impact did with Maria. A clearly limited women in the ring who bosses around everyone until her suburbanite has had enough and gives her, her comeuppance. Of course Impact f***ed that angle up by having Gail Kim beat Maria and not Allie. Also Brandi Rhodes beat up Maria before Allie did
