The problem with any fandom is when they start tying their entire sense of self into what they're fans of. It's what gets the 'ruins childhood' mindset and all that silly bullshit.
It's why people take it as a personal affront if there's an entry into a franchise or a ploy development they didn't like. If you're getting legit angry about something in a piece of entertainment you like, it's time to take a step back and get some perspective.

I've never seen a Star Wars movie. So what part of Mars do you live on? I live at Cohagen Estates. The air is a little stuffy, but there are great parties.

Just saying "I don't like it" is fine. Going on about raped childhoods and directing abuse at people associated with said media because you didn't like it is where we cross into "whiny bitch" territory.

this can be said for most fandoms, though. Everyone has to complain about something somewhere. It's why I usually just stay on the outer fringes of it all and enjoy what I do without other voices in my head making me secondguess my opinions.

Star wars fans are no different from any other fan base.
Star Trek, Marvel, DC, Final Fantasy, Dungeons and Dragons. All and many others have a vocal minority of whiny, self-entitled dipshits that try to ruin it for everyone else.

It’s like that in all fandoms.
Well besides MCU mostly everything they do is perfect you just have never ending debates between the people who only watch the movies and the people that love the tv shows and the forever debate are theg tv shows cannon and do they matter.

I've never seen a Star Wars movie. I’ve only seen the original trilogy but you’re not missing much.

Solo and the subsequent canceling of the Story things like Solo was more that... Solo was a story that most people weren't really interested in. and I don't mean like Star Wars fans I mean... like ... the mainstream audience didn't really want to see it... There is a large offset of "fans" that are impossible to please. So what part of Mars do you live on? I live at Cohagen Estates. The air is a little stuffy, but there are great parties. HEY! I AM THE ONE THAT ARCHDUKE OF MARS HERE! I was told my job was to keep an eye on Bigfoot.

It took a shade under $400 million at the box office. That's a decent return... if you don't spend $400 million making and promoting it. Star Wars fans turned out for it, but few others did.

There was absolutely no reason for Solo to have its reported $300 million budget. Giving a spin-off movie like that that kind of budget would be like someone at Marvel going "well Infinity War made a Gajillion Dollars at the box office, there's no reason Ant-Man and the Wasp can't do the same, up their budget to $300 million as well". Suddenly Ant-Man and the Wasp's modestly successful $400 million box office (off a $75 million budget) turns into a dismal failure. If Solo had a more appropriate budget of around $100-150 million, we'd be looking back on it much more favorably right now.

They decided that Amazing Spider-man 2 was going to be their Billion dollar tentpole film. so it had a 300 million dollar budget... and another god knows how much in their marketing blitz for it... so when it only made 709 million it was a massive failure... Why Sony decided that the sequel to the lowest earning Spider-man film was going to make a Billion dollars is anyone's guess >_>

The prequel trilogy are horse shit and the sequel trilogy are dog shit. They are shit, but differently so. I guess I’d take the horse if I had to but I’m perfectly content to never watch any of them again.
Solo is a movie. Completely there. The “We Bought a Zoo” of Star Wars.
Rogue One has some really high highs but has some fan service shit mixed in that drags it down.
The original trilogy is fantastic, an amazing synthesis of epic myth and film traditions, trailblazing in its production. I frankly have a hard time understanding any opinion that ranks any of the prequels or sequels above the original trilogy.

I didn't see Solo cause I just wasn't interested. Sorry.
But to be fair to the 'whiners' anytime something hits a cultural zeitgeist and has the lifespan of something like Star Wars, it's always going to develop a passionate fanbase for better or worse. I also don't think there's anything wrong with applying critical analysis to entertainment. Yes, you'll always have the loud blowhards who take up most of the noise space on either side; but we often tend to imagine these groups are way bigger than they are. The majority just don't care enough to spend that much time thinking and talking about this stuff.

If Solo had a more appropriate budget of around $100-150 million, we'd be looking back on it much more favorably right now. If they'd stuck with Lord and Miller as directors we'd probably have seen the same box office numbers, but made on that $150 million budget. Reshooting some 70% of the movie under Ron Howard is where the budget doubled, and while the end product is a serviceable movie (perhaps even an underrated one), it never had a hope in hell of pulling in the numbers needed to make it worth releasing. Maybe if they had convinced Harrison Ford to do it, and used their digital trickery to shave 50 years off him while somehow making him look like he gave a shit... but I'm pretty sure technology hasn't advanced that far yet.
