I did like the Death of the Family Arc. Don't know how much, if anything, DiDio had to do with that. That had a lot of problems editorially, due to Snyder wanting to use Harley for the story and it was messing with her title. It definitely worked better in some titles than others. The Batgirl tie-in issues were really good.

99.9999% speculation talk, but a good, reasonably informative, watch.

But the New 52 era Harley book didn't begin until late 2013, almost a year after this. Harley was at the time showing up in SUICIDE SQUAD, which did have a proper crossover (as the other spinoff Bat books did) with this story. A little odd that SSquad would get "property rights" to a Bat-character over the main Batman book/team/editor. (Plus IIRC Harley did appear in a short story somewhere in the main Batman story, which I thought was creepier than if she'd shown up often during the main story...)

Yeah, this must've been very sudden, because DC is suspiciously silent.

The thing is, Jim Lee has been around for a long time and he's pretty easy to read at this point. He's super laid back and open by default, whereas this sounds like corporate speak where you spend 10 minutes saying nothing. There are definitely more changes coming, and DC is definitely in a state of flux.
I'm going to be real, too - trying to stay focused on the publishing arm is probably a bad idea. DC has been through so much nonsense on the page since 2011, losing readers in droves. Meanwhile, they've got a TV division people love. They've also got more good movies than bad thanks to removing Snyder. Focus on that stuff. The comics clearly aren't working.

Marvel and DC comics are both in a weird spot where the comics themselves aren't doing great, yet they're the driving force behind all the amazingly successful ventures in other areas of entertainment. People love these characters and find inspiration in them. Just gotta find a way to translate that into people buying the comics.

And that's where it's so frustrating because when Rebirth started, it was hot. And then they started moving away from what Rebirth set up. Honestly to me the first major move in the wrong direction was Eradicator "killing" Krypto. It was a fake out, but it was like four issues into the new Superman series and they're killing dogs for shock value? Then Tim Drake "dies". Etc. Etc. There should be a mandate where like, DC can't use death to shock fans for like a year.

On the other side of the world as San Diego during SDCC? Wowzers. The geek in him must hate that but the businessman must know it's the right (or is it?) move...

I'm more weirded that they booked London Film and Comic Con the same weekend as SDCC which honestly...kind of a genius move thinking about it. Considering how elusive SDCC tickets can be and they've started to mould it as the SDCC of Europe.

Yeah...This video popped up on my recs the other day and I couldn't even make it through three minutes until I binged Movie Bob and Redus to get the taste out of my mouth. Last night I read a piece about the con flake outs, but the write framed it with COVID 19.

I know people rag on him, a lot of it being fair, but considering how long he’s been in the industry and what he’s done at DC, yeah, I’d gladly learn something from him if I had the means to pay for that.
