www.kickstarter.com/projects/kayfabe/kayfabe/Amy Dumas (Lita), Christy Hemme and Gail Kim are crowdfunding a new promotion called KAYfABE, and are looking for $400,000 to produce the pilot episode. They've got a long list of people who are working on the production, and Jimmy Jacobs on the creative team. Alisha Edwards is also attached to the production. They're selling it as 50% real life stories, 50% wrestling. Not sure if this is a women's wrestling promotion, or a promotion that's largely run by women.

I wish them all the luck as well, it sounds like a neat concept I’d want to see fleshed out.

I just have a concern that even with the names involved, and especially with Gail Kim's link to TV, that no TV network has picked it up. Getting flashbacks to Nigel McGuinness and LA Fights, and even the dreaded Wrestling Revolution Project. Plus there's not exactly a wealth of free female wrestlers out there that aren't on the radar of WWE or AEW.

I wish them luck but 5mil is quite the asking price
Nice to see Catrina though always a joy to see the mistress of the underworld.

I have my doubts, but it'll be cool if they can get anything going. Gotta wonder if they should have had more modest aspirations for it, but we'll see if anything comes of this.

They've already raised over $10,000 in over half an hour, just need forty times that amount in a month.

Gail's husband is a rich celebrity chef. She should ask him for some money.

Nigel McGuinness and LA Fights I want to hear more about this, just started to google... Any summaries, what this would've really been and included? ' don't remember hearing about this at the time.

Of the $21,560 raised so far, $20,000 of that came from TWO PEOPLE, each paying $10,000 for the top reward (executive producer credit on the pilot, plus "Insider updates", a social media follow, a pilot PDF digitally signed by the cast, a personalised audio message, a personalised video message, a "VIP Experience" and a dinner with Lita, Gail and Christy at Robert Irvine's restaurant.

He described it as game of thrones meets wrestling, Nigel also told the backers that if they reached the goal that he would’ve returned to the ring.

I mean I'm wishing them good luck but this is the kind of crowdfunding thing where I see it and pretty much immediately think "this won't end well"

I don’t think that it will work even if they raise the capital, but I can’t fault them for trying either. Best of luck there.

I think this was before Lucha Underground so it would’ve been something similar to that genre.

There's a lot of creepy fans who will wanna crowdfund a women's league because they figure the women will 'owe' them time and attention for it. Gonna be some red flags to watch out for.
Good luck to them on this though. Seems like a good time to take a gamble on some outside the box ideas.

They're crowdfunding a wrestling show with no announced roster, no confirmed venue, and no in-ring footage to show what kind of wrestling product they want to put on.
Best of luck to them, because they know as well as anyone that they have a LOT of competition.

I think it's coming at a better time than bullshit like Global Force Wrestling did, but it's still a tough sell, especially for the money they're asking for here. I get that the pilot is necessary to have a better shot of wrangling sponsors, investors, etc, but it's still looking like a lot of crowdfunding which goes nowhere.

Looking at this more and more and I think to myself...even if they were to get a season they are gonna have the same issues LU had but worse no not the contracts I mean the TV side of things.
LU's biggest issue was MGM and El Rey were always fighting about money....MGM wanted to make it for more and El Rey wanted to make it for less so compromise to keep it going was slash the budget hence season 4 and shoot an entire season in just a month and this was with a show that had the backing of big wigs like Mark Burnett and Robert Rodriguez etc
And seeing as they are definetly trying to replicate that well.
I would have to go back and find his anwser but I remember when he was asked specifically about using kickstarter to fund LU and he expressly said no way for a very good reason which I again forget right now but I am sure it was used also to explain why no shows with big budgets ever go to its fans to fund the show.
