I work in the health service; not frontline so not directly affected (though the term 'redeployment' keeps popping up should shit really hit the fan) but in an outpatient clinic. It's for kids with mental health struggles so yeah, you better believe we're staying open unless told explicitly not to. Vulnerable kids need our service more than ever right now.

I work in a warehouse that stores records for hospitals so we could be pretty busy for the next few weeks. Not sure if I'm considered "essential personnel" but until I get told to stay home or start displaying symptoms I'm going in.
Thing is there are areas of that warehouse that are very dusty and every time I cough or sneeze now (or hear someone else doing it) I wonder. It doesn't help that I have seasonal allergies. Suffice to say I've washing my hands A LOT! So much that my skins starting to dry out.
Most annoying thing so far is that I spend my time at work listening to Boston sports talk radio and with no games the only thing they can talk about is the already excessive speculation on Tom Brady's free agency.

Hospital Security.
This whole thing is driving me up the damn wall. Pay's terrible. Risk is high. People are already starting to get panicky and Nova Scotia doesn't even have a confirmed case yet (though there is no way we won't soon). We HAVE to be there. We had a guy come in the other night who was being extremely rude with staff so we were told to kick him out, but his newphew could stay and get tested cause the kid is sixteen and can make his own decisions. He starts pulling the kid out. We very plainly ask the kid "Do you want to stay and see the doctor? Your uncle has to go." and the kid says he wants to stay. Uncle starts flipping out and screaming at us that we're kidnapping him, yelling at the kid not to go, grabbed me by my shirt and got sat down on a bench and the cops called on him.
And I get it man, tensions are running high. I bet that guy is perfectly nice in his everyday life.

I don't work, I don't get paid. So screw that self-isolation malarkey.
'But you live in the UK and get SSP'...
94 quid a week.

My school has extended spring break another week for students, but teachers still have to report to work. Our hours for next week have changed from 8:15-4:15 to 7:30-1:00. Why 7:30? Your guess is as good as mine. I usually get to school by 7:45 in order to offer morning tutoring, and I'm going to stick to that. If they want to quibble with me over 15 minutes, I'll just use some of the personal leave days I've saved up and take the rest of the week off. What are we going to do there without any students anyway?

Just found out that on Friday one of the site supervisors came in and said they’d be doing most of their work from home. Some of the people in these positions are lazy as all hell. They don’t want to come in when there isn’t a pandemic and I’d be shocked if some of them have ever come in for 40 hours of week on their actual sites. I’m fully expecting not to see some of them for at least two months after the panic dies down. So...2026?
In the meantime someone has to take care of these clients. I work in mental health by the way and some of our programs are perpetually understaffed.

Starting Monday, all the office people are working remotely. I'll have to be in the plant, though.

I work at Subway. Like hell were getting off, unless one of our employees somehow turns up positive.

I work at a 24/7 contact center for a financial institution
I'd be shocked if we shut down completely.
I mainly train people so there's about a 50-50 chance I'll be told to stay home at some point

I work for a popular budget fashion store here in the UK, at present we are good to go to continue trading, however I expect things might change in the next few weeks, two of my best friends are already in self containment (they are a live in couple) as the male friend has been feeling symptoms since Saturday morning. There was an, unsubstantiated, rumor doing the rounds on Thursday from a customer that the local transport and one of the shopping centers were told that they had to go into shut down in 2 weeks but not seen any info about that and if that were to be the case I wouldn't be able to work as I rely on getting buses to and from work

I'm at work while the rest of the company here is "working from home" until the end of March.
Friday was a madhouse day - people who had never worked from home trying to figure out how to, AND lugging computer equipment out (a lot of designers, so they have special setups that they need to take home). If you'd been driving by you woulda thought the place was going bankrupt and people were just stealing stuff.
I'm part of office services (incoming mail, packages) so I'm here. And as I'm a contractor it's full days, while a few others here who work for the company are just doing part days.
..............after the morning post office run, it's a LOTTA DOWN TIME. But at least I'm getting paid.

Barely anyone came by the thrift store today and I was anxious about my shift. Spent the first 15 minutes somewhat upset about the next couple of weeks, as it's likely we will be closing soon.
This job isn't my source of income but it does help with my depression as it gives me a sense of usefulness in this world. I know this belongs in the mental health thread but soon going without the job will test me.

My CPRFA recertification training got cancelled for tomorrow. Since the company I work for trains us as close as possible to when our certifications expire so they get the most people in a class as possible my certification will expire before I can renew. Usually this is an automatic suspension if you let it expire, but since I’ve been trying to get into a class for over a month and there was nothing I could do about this the training department said I would not suspended for something out of my control. I’m not completely at ease though. One time someone goofed after I recertified and whoever is in charge of our automated system missed that I had recertified so that I was sent an email that I was suspended. This was all settled quickly enough but I wouldn’t be shocked if something similar happened again. If it does and they drop me from all my shifts I’m not sure if I’ll be so quick to pick them back up. Honestly, I could use a little time off

The school district finally sent us home today at noon and shut everything down until (at least) April 6. We'll be doing distance learning with our students in the meantime.

My wife is still working because her job, even though they said if you get it or someone close to you do, they'll pay you while your off. They aren't taking the thing itself seriously, in all of the meetings they laugh and act like it's the most ridiculous shit ever. There is a very heavy attitude in the midwest that this entire thing is bullshit and get your ass to work.

Well, job just told me today that they can't let me work from home. Didn't expect much else because I deal with private accounts, but worth a try.
