I’m thinking of getting into this when my job ends next week and I have to sit at home for a while.
I play on PS4. Do i have to pay a monthly subscription fee to Bethesda or whoever to play it AND for a monthly subscription to PlayStation online? Or just one or the other?

BTW, if you buy a Zone DLC like Summerset or Elsweyr, the game starts with a prologue quest there.....then if you want to start the original main quest of the Alliance War and Molag Bal, you have to go to your assigned zone to start it, which is really god-damn dumb.

80 bucks I just spent to get full game. Will try FTP before subscribing. Really REALLY hope this is fun at best, that some FANs will play with me and tolerate stupidity at worst.

The Good: **A whole lot of places to explore. Like, after Greymoor, pretty much all of Tamriel is able to be seen. My favorite place for scenery would probably be Northern and Southern Elswyer. **Lots and lots of things to do. You have the original main storyline, the Alliance Wars, the chapter add-on stories, and so much more. **The Altmer aren't a entire race of vile racist fascists, yet.
The Bad: **The combat sucks. You're locked to these "special move" kind of abilities, as conventional attacks don't do shit anymore. **Greymoor just feels like a retread of Skyrim's Dawnguard.

I log on, look around going "everything looks awesome and there's so much to do" and then log out shortly thereafter. Like, I want to love this game but can't get into it. Could have a bit to do with the combat tbh.

I actually have never played Skyrim. Seen videos, but this came first since it’s chronologically first. The historian in me made me. So... please be good. And on the plus side, since I am new, hopefully the mechanics will make sense.

In this game, you have to use those class abilities alone, and it feels like it takes too long to kill any enemy. And the regular attack? Worthless. Like, you can't even kill a mudcarb with one single attack.

And on the plus side, since I am new, hopefully the mechanics will make sense. For what it's worth, I would find a weapon type you like and stick with it. See, if you go Two-Handed, you unlock attacks you assign to buttons, and stuff. But if you then switch to say, Bows, you have to go through the whole process with that. Same with Armor, too.

Like, you can't even kill a mudcarb with one single attack. A beginning character in Morrowind would have made you explode, then. 5 minutes to kill a mudcrab if you were lucky. And light attacks are key to chaining skills together to increase your damage.

One thing I haven’t been able to figure out after two months is the item wheel. Any help is appreciated.
And I’m confused why the “main quest” (I guess the quest with the Prophet is the main quest?) just...stopped once i got that mage guy who’s double crossing Minnimarco on my side?

I just shelled out for the Greymoor and other expansions w/original game as well. Got it for $64 with Live Gold discount. I haven't figured out much of the Crafting or Build aspects but otherwise, I'm enjoying it very much. I'm mainly in it for the parts that are able to be done solo since I'm not big on social play but that actually seems to be the majority of the game. There are some differences I still need to get used to like, as mentioned, the combat as well as getting out of the Skyrim mindset of looting everything especially with the limited storage space.
Hell, I've still never finished Skyrim. I was spending a lot of time playing it before but haven't played since I bought ESO.

You are probably under leveled. I’m at level 43 I know the quest before that wouldn’t unlock if you had a certain quest in your queue. I can’t find anything saying the same for this one (I’m trying to get the quest where you have to rescue the fourth guy)

And I’m confused why the “main quest” (I guess the quest with the Prophet is the main quest?) just...stopped once i got that mage guy who’s double crossing Minnimarco on my side? The item wheel basically is a bunch of easily accessible items you can assign to your quickbar slot and cycling through that instead of going through the regular inventory menu. That said, you play on PS4, so it might function differently on there compared to the PC version I play on.
Vanilla Main Quest progression is also tied to character level (one of the few things that still is, actually). So go do zone storylines wherever you're playing (or go through one of the expansion chapter storylines like Morrowind, Summerset, Elsweyr, etc) until you reach the next threshold. Though you could also just focus on leveling to Lv 50 and be able to do it all at once. Sometimes the game also won't "flag" you as ready to proceed to the next quest in the main line until you reach a wayshrine in one of the major cities like Davon's Watch, Mournhold, Daggerfall, Vulkhel Guard, etc.

You are probably under leveled. I’m at level 43 How far are you with your alliance's quests? And for the Fighter and Mage Guilds?

How far are you with your alliance's quests? And for the Fighter and Mage Guilds? Mages Guild I’ve gotten the last book and now I guess I’m building by collecting lore books to get the next chapter. Fighters Guild I haven’t even partaken in. I wasn’t going to do that one out of fear that I could only join so many guilds, and I’d rather do Theives over Fighters. My Alliance? I have no idea really. I’ve travelled all over doing quests on behalf of the Pact but they all seem like side quests.

Yeah, the Main Quest is actually broken down into four sub-stories: The Five Companions, The Alliance War, and the Fighter & Mages Guild. Basically, at the end of your alliance's quests, they realize the Worm Cult is stoking the fires of war and call for a truce, and the two guilds agree to serve as the vanguard into the invasion of Molag Bal's realm of Coldharbour, and with the Companions getting you ready to fight M.B. one on one. So, complete all of it, then it should come together.
