War Zone came out in August 1998, say that’s close enough. Stamp up the Punchy?! Bacon off! I want to see a Fun With Ahmed action game released with him riding his pet kangaroo Punchy and killing monsters with the Sand Rippa.

I'd like to know the further details beyond "It's not coming out this year". Meltzer's tweet was kinda basic and didn't really say much. Did he mean it's canceled completely, or its "canceled" until everything gets back to kinda normal, and it comes out in, like, time for WM like it always should have.

Never going to get an April release. 2k sports games don't time themselves for a topical-to-the-sport release, they're going for the fall-through-holiday range so they can make big Christmas money, market themselves as the next year's number a few months earlier, and pick up on the more casual game buying market of people who only pick up seasonal sports games, and parents. There isn't much give because the whole point is to still be on the New Releases rack during the most lucrative shopping periods of the year, which is why since January you can see NBA 2k20 at the forefront of pretty much every Playstation Store sale going and constantly on discount and begging to be bought; its peak lifecycle is already lived. Hell NBA and WWE are in a Humble Bundle right now for 30 with other games. 2K has its business strategy and they will never yield to any fan hope of a Mania-seasonal wrestling game.

Hopefully that means the 2K19 servers will be left up even longer. You mean the good game. Unfortunately, they'll shut those down to force everyone onto the broken mess that is 2K20. One reason why I love San Diego Studios having the MLB license. They just recently shut down the servers for Show 16, I believe. The servers for 17, 18, and 19 are still up.

Possibly, but I think that'd have been much more likely if the game hadn't been a total bomb. They'll probably want to try to make money on 2k19 for a bit longer.

Guessing it's good news for Retromania

And nothing of value was lost. JK
Granted I haven't played a wrestling game since 2007-8 so I might be a bit biased on that regard. Just seems like a waste of money to buy what amounts to the same game year after year after year.

Doesn't help that in the name of "realism" that the WWE games in particular have gotten really convoluted and un-fun to play, in addition to all the gambling bullshit with lootboxes and microtransactions that Take Two loves shoving into their 2K games. Last WWE wrestling game I bought and liked was WWE 13, but I haven't played a wrestling game I truly enjoyed since Smackdown vs. Raw 2006. Can't really get into the Fire Pro games either.
Hopefully whenever the AEW game comes out, it's actually fun.

The WWE games haven't become a microtransaction mess. The strange thing is, it's because WWE is stopping 2K from doing it. WWE won't allow 2K to release the game around Mania instead of October, but they're also being the smart ones in not letting 2K turn the games into microtansaction city.

It's WWE Diablo Immortal for mobile phones. Now wrestling fans can experience the disappointment of modern day Blizzard and rape you for every dollar experience only mobile phone games provide! Want Bray Wyatt's Green sweater? That'll be 200 Vince buckaroos! Want a rematch? You can wait a day or spend 500 Vince buckaroos!

Want Bray Wyatt's Green sweater? That'll be 200 Vince buckaroos! Want a rematch? You can wait a day or spend 500 Vince buckaroos! C’mon now...2K is already doing to us with WWE SuperCard...we don’t need more. It’s got the continual crappiness of constant bugs in the game and now they’ll double down twice as hard to fleece us out of money to make up for no 2K21. Finishing events too quick? Spend money and finish it a second time for stronger cards! Remember those cool fusion card events we used to do where you could get good pro cards for free? Thing of the past...we’ll tease you with one freebie and make you pay $50 for a chance at another. Everyone want these cool new Hall and Nash cards? Surprise cap on the ingredients on Fusion with a small success rate anyways. Remember how you could combine two cards for a pro? Now you can combine them up to 5 times AND we’re gonna raise the amount of pulls for a tier reset! Ugh! 😡

can we get another legends game? I've wanted a decent legends game ever since Legends of WrestleMania turned out to be quite underwhelming. And an all female game would be nice to have too. But it's never going to happen, considering they can barely get one game done a year.

Yeah, WWE are keeping 2k from 2king all over the series. there's some random lootbox thing for mycareer... but there's no real money value, and it's only for that one mode... that most people go through the story once and that's about it. I don't mind the Fantasy style DLC... basically the majority of the rost re was in regardless so letting them get creative with it... not really surprised that 2k21 is cancelled. 2k20 being as much of a mess as it was... combined with the global pandemic going on... I can't see them figuring out all teh issues with what happened... especially since 2k20 didn't even have the 2k19 engine to work off.

I still play Smackdown 2, because it's fun, arcadey (but not utterly ridiculous, except maybe swinging around sofas and caskets like they're made of packing polystyrene), and doesn't interrupt you every 5 minutes to explain how it's all fake and you're supposed to lose this match because "this business" or somesuch. Sure would like to see them go back to that, even as a seperate series. I get the attraction of a bit of insider info or a booking simulator if that's your thing, but the 2K series got to be such a massive chore as a result. Edit: Also the control schemes, really tiresome if what you really feel like doing is beating the insides out of a couple of AI opponents. It's a lot easier to let off some steam when you can hit reliable, simple button combos to hit moves in a reasonably predictable way, rather than having to deal with reversal systems and mini-games.

So they get enough time to make a decent game? That's good.
But if we want to play a WWE game with a halfway up-to-date roster, we're stuck with that pile of crap for two years... not so good.
