Remember when people said no more THQ was a good thing and 2K will save the series?

Guessing it's good news for Retromania There's that Monkey's Paw again. "2K and WWE has acquired Retrosoft Studios, and the rights to Retromania. It will be released in October as WWE Retro!" I'd actually wouldn't mind that if they brought in the roster from the WWF Wrestlefest arcade game, squashing fools as Earthquake was my jam.

Now they've some time to develop a much more interesting game with wider options! It's the same piece of crap, isn't it?

On paper it would seem they have so much more time to develop, but I'd like to know how much they'll be able to get done during the stay at home orders.

To be fair, the programming and events leading up to actual WWE 2k21 have been glitchy AF too, so I guess gamers got a big break.

I've wanted a decent legends game ever since Legends of WrestleMania turned out to be quite underwhelming. And an all female game would be nice to have too. But it's never going to happen, considering they can barely get one game done a year. Wouldn’t mind an wwe v wcw v ecw game .... Benoit probably would be the only omission from the game Owen Hart is another one who wouldn't be in it. Unlike with the WWE Network, every single person in the game has to sign off on their likeness being used.

I hope a lower card heel photoshops a version with them on the cover. Then goes crazy saying this cancellation robbed them of their dream to star in a videogame. Their gimmick is then appearing as different videogame character parodies.

Remember when people said no more THQ was a good thing and 2K will save the series? Honestly I think THQ would have almost fully recreated the 2K20 disaster if they were still alive. WWE 13 is still one of the most glitchy and f***ed up games I've ever played. You'd literally just be playing an online match and boom you're floating in to the audience while frozen in time.

Yeah, I think people forget about just how bad the THQ games got toward the end. For instance the period when it was impossible to do anything online because everyone would just punch you into the barricade to win via count out. Or how Community Creations would go literally months between working.

The problem has always been with the yearly development cycle, which has become increasingly unfeasible since game making has gotten far more involved and complex. That's all on WWE's demands for one because of their desperation to be seen in the vein as real sports leagues like the NFL and NBA. So it probably would've been as bad if THQ was still publisher, but the games certainly haven't improved on average since Take Two got the license either.
People thought/still think that Yuke's leaving the series will improve the games, too. But I have my doubts unless skipping years becomes a regular practice instead of an exception. Yuke's became absolutely miserable working on the WWE games over the years and Visual Concepts isn't big enough to do these yearly sports games on their own without outside help.
